Question about 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix
How do you change a thermostat on a 02 Pontiac Grand Prix Gt.
As you face the engine the thermostat bell is on the right (drivers side) Follow the radiatoe hose. Remove the two bolts and raise the bell still attatched to the hose. the thermostat is there with the rubber seal. You can gently pry the thermostat out with a screwdriver or something similar. Put in new thermostat be sure it is the same as the old one, and then replace or change the seal (be sure it is the smae size and thickness as the old one as I got the wrong size from Napa) Then replace the bell, and tighten, but not over tighten. I hope this helps!

If you look on ebay I believe there is still a set of maintanance manuals up for auction. They would be a great source for anything you may need to repair or maintain.

For thermostat replacement step by step instructions with pics-
The pics as shown are for a GP model, but the GTP shares the same block so the thermostat is in the same place.
Your model year may require a gasket instead of an optional "o" ring. Buy one before you start and when you pull it apart, see if it has a gasket. -If so replace it, if not return the unused part.
Hope this helps. "G"
