I went to open my driver door and the entire door handle broke off (pulled out of door frame). Both rods, the lock rod and the latch rod snapped off. How do I fix this? I can't seem to find the replacement rods or how to info.

You will need to remove the door panel. Most use a special clip to attach it to the lock mechanisim. Look in the bottom of the door to find the clip that fell off. If you can't find it you will have to go to chrysler to get another clip or try a wrecking yard and they will probably just give it to you.

My door will not open with the outer latch. Its a 2002 jeep wrangler X with full doors.

I've seen this way too many times...the rod connecting the handle and the actuator has come off. You can take the door panel off and reconnect it - just take a good look, it's very obvious how where it fits in to. If the rod will not stay in the slot on the handle or the actuator the clip is broken - the handle's clip will come with a new lock rod, but the clip on the actuator is integral and you'd have to replace the entire actuator - also very easy.

Check around your door handle for damage - this happens a lot during breakins.

I have a jeep wrangler 1998 model and i can open from the outside but i cant from the inside

Most likely the rod that connects from the inside lever to the latch has come disconnected. There are small plastic clips that hold the rod to the latch, that may have broke. Would require removing the door panel.

Remove the inner door panel and check to make sure that the linkage rod that goes between the outer handle and the latch is connected. It's possible that the plastic end clip broke.

1997 Jeep Wrangler left interior door does not work. The lock rod is visible, but I have not been able to locate the position or see the latch rod. Could it fall complete off? If so, how do I get to it to...

Not only do you have a lock rod but you have a lacth control rod. That's the one that's not working. Remove the door panel and replace the plastic clip that broke with a new one.

93 jeep door lock Broken

It might an easy fix...

I had the same problem and it ended up that it only was a metal rod that was unhook from mechanism...

-undo your inside panel by pulling on it
- check the mechanism...

Be careful there is some small plastic pieces that breaks easily after 15 years of life!

hope this helps!

Jeep 1992 yJ Outside Door Handle

ok, the inside panel is cardboard with faux leather. remove the screws holding on the inside handle and the frame of the doorlatch.

there is a plastic joint that connects the two rods that actuate and open the door. the rods are bent at the end to slip into the white plastic joint. this design is stupid and often times that joint can break, or the rods fall out. solution is to reattach them together and wrap mechanics wire or bend the very ends of the rods so they wont come out.

its something i cant really explain, but the design is straight forward. also, keep track of the threads on the rod that connects to the claw that meets the striker on the frame of the jeep. if for any reason its not adjusted properly, it will not latch properly.

Door linkage on '95 Wrangler.....

there is a small plastic clip that fits in the hole on the handle then the rod slips into it and the plastic clip snaps over the rod to hold it in place most times the plastic clip falls off and can be found in the bottom of the door, if you cannot find it your local parts store should have the clips.

Lock mechanism in my doors is broke

the rod inside the door has come off this happens often, most of the time its because the srcew holding the inside door handle is loose try tightening it first, if this does't work remove the inside door handle held on with a t15 or t 20 scew and see if the rod has come off at the handle try pulling on the rods to unlock the door then open it, once the door is open remove door panel 2 screws at bottom and just pry up on the soft upper grommets if it a half door reomve door panel and plastic moisture barrier rods connect from the outside lock cylinder to the lock mech and rods also go from the inside lock to the mech one or both of these has come off reconnect them sometime the clips to hold them in place fall down into the bottom of the door if they are not on the rods look there..hope this helps
