You can try two options. First is beat it until it comes off, this usually leads to the hub assembly coming with it and pieces everywhere. Then you have to replace both. The other is to find a puller that attaches over the studs and presses in on the hub assembly at the same time. Be careful though there are two or four bolts on the back side that if not removed will also tear up the hub assembly. Either way after the first side you will have it figured out for the second. Don't forget to use plenty of PB blaster.

On my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2 2WD, I just found

This is a very simple job to do. Raise the front of truck off the ground, block the rear tires. Using pliers and a hammer, remove the grease cap from hub. Remove the cotter key and nut from axle, pull out slowly and remove outer bearing. then remove hub from axle. To remove inner bearing ,prop hub on a board and use a large punch to drive out bearing and seal. Clean out inside the hub and install new bearing and seal. Replace all parts in the reverse as you took them off. Hope this will help you.

Front axle hub torque

Ram 1500 Pickup ...... 175 foot lbs. Then tighten until the cotter pin can be inserted. I had the same problem. I had to replace the inline check valves and I also had a bad hose. The check valves are not expensive.

95 dodge 2500 4x4 front axle clicks in 2wd not 4wd when engaged

Do you have automatic locking hubs? Do you need to turn hubs on wheels in order to have 4 wheel drive work? If all you do to get in 4wd is move shifter, then you have automatic locking hubs. The clicking indicates that the hubs are not fully disingaging. To check, block rear wheels, jack front up, and turn tire. the axle should not be turning...if it is, hub is still ingaged....time for new hubs.....if hubs are bad, and you want to save money, you can purchase a set of manual hubs made by (WARN)...its more than half the cost, but you will have to turn hubs to lock and unlock manually. Note...you still need to use the gear selector to put and take out 4wd.

Upper and lower ball joint replacement

to remove the axles, remove brake caliper and disc, remove hub assembly, the center hub/axle nut and...(there are i think 3-4 bolts on the back side of the spindle to remove the hub), you may have to force the hub off the spindle with a hammer or air hammer... once the hub is out the axle should slide out of the front differential allowing access to the ball joint nuts for removal...

1999 dodge cummins 2500 front axel seals

you need to pull off wheels, brakes, rotor /unit hub bearing, both axles and intermediate shaft, as well as the vac disconnec ton the front axle tube. if only the right side leaks then only then only pull the right axle and intermediate shaft and vac disco. it is a trick with a miller tool to replace the seal. the left side seal is inside the diff and the carrier has to come out to replace it. pete

Left front popping. already relaced hub assembly. What next????

8002ae8b.gif The top is a 216. The bottom one is a 248. Your option's list calss it something different so I don't know which it is. It sounds like you've got a problem with the u-joint. They're easy to check. If you see a lot of bright orange rust around them, they're bad. Also, put the truck in 4 wheel drive, make sure the front axle engages, and grab the front driveshaft and turn it back and forth sharply while watching the u-joint. If it's bad you'll see the axle side roate a little bit but not the wheel side.
