I have a 95 probe GT v6 2.5L and when im driving at a steady lower rpm my engine starts to bog down and lose power, also while im at a steady rpm (like freeway driving) my check engine light pops on and wont go away until i restart the car. any ideas?
The probes use the mazda motor.... the engine light is caused by a lean fuel mixture...this happens on almost every american motor..its the ecu tuning. this is a way for the a-spec motor to have less horsepower, but they detuned too far. if you replace the ecu with the j-spec one you will not have the light, and gain somewhere around 15 hp im not sure how much or how dramatic the losing power thing is but i do know that the 2.5l motors love LOVE the rpms... so 3,000 rpm is really where the motor starts to run good, other than that im not sure

Sounds like wiring problems with the engine harness. The oil pressure not working could cause the hard starting problem. The idle problem could be a faulty idle air control valve or a vac leak. I would start with the check engine light and find out what the codes are.
chances are its a bad sensor for the traction control...that would make it bog down because the car think the tires have started to spin n lowers its rpm level to bring the car back in control...even though the cars tires arent spinning...check and replace.
it might be the fuel pressure regulator, i have a similar problem with my 95 302. but mine just dies but starts right back up. i was told fuel may be evaporating out of the fuel lines, when it doesnt start the first try i pump the gas pedal 2-3 times and it starts right up.
