Well, the "V" means the Speed Rating for the tires is 149 MPH (240 KPH) and the "W" is a Speed rating of 168 MPH (270 KPH).

If you don't plan on going over 149 MPH, I'd say you can stick with the "V" designation. :-)

BTW, the 91 is the Load Designation...1356lbs (615KG).

The W or V refers to the speed rating of the tyre. Both V and W tyres have a high speed rating.

Generally it's good practice to use the same type of tyre.

Audi A4 2008- warning symbol TPMS ?????? what does this mean. Also, tire pressure light won't go off. just had four new tires put on.

TMPS = Tires Monitoring Pressure System.
If you have been changed all tires of the car you must programm again all four tires TMPS sensors. This is the reason for TMPS warning symbol lightning on the dashboard.

06 Audi A4 with 37,000 miles. Dealer say it needs brake pads front and back as well as rotors in the front. This is my wife's car and she is a conservative driver. Why would it need rotors and rear pads....

why dont you just pull off one tire in the front tires off yourself and inspect the rotors with you finger nail...run it up and down the surface if it gets caught on anything or you feel deep groves then yes hes telling you the truth! Have all brakes done!

1999 AUDI A6 avant 2.8L quattro. Car vibrates

This is a manual transmission? If so the clutch probably needs to be replaced. When you say "VIOLENTLY" what is going on, what is the road speed, what are the RPMs at? The more specific information the better. And this problem ONLY occurs between gear changes, right? The other times, everything is normal?

How do I change tire on Audi A6? Tool doesn't seem to fit the lug nut size.

Just get the right tire range to fit the lug nut size. You
must replace your existing tire range. It's the only way.

I think my mechanic is over charging me..

It's good to shop around for new tires, the mechanic may not have a good deal from the supplier. Therefore, he needs to charge more. Just shop around in your area for better deals on tires.

As for the other repairs, the first thing you'll need to get done is the front lower control arm ( the worn ball joint ). Worn out suspension parts will cause premature wear on the tires. Because, it would not be holding the tire steady and it would be basically " out of alignment ".
If I remember correctly, the whole control arm would have to be replaced, because the ball joint isn't changeable in the control arm. I believe that's why he's asking $700.
The mechanic again probably doesn't have a good deal on his parts supplier. I think it's too high myself. I would call around other shop for better prices. Other shops that have better deals on their suppliers will usually pass the saving to the customer.

2004 Audi A8L, irregular tire wear. Outer blocks of tires are feathering. Rough when sliding hand over tire from front to rear, smooth from rear to front. 255-45/18 34psi cold. new Bridgestone Turanza...

Once the alignment is good just keep rotating at least every 6,000 miles. Aggressive tread designs on these cars have to be pampered or you will get the feathering
