This may sound strange but have delt with this before. Not exactly sure that this is your problem and it would need to be fully tested before you can be sure. The multi function switch in the steering column was the problem I have come across for this exact model truck on more than one time. Yes this would be the turn signal, wiper and "flash to pass" switch. Below are pictures of its location, the connectors with descriptions and wire colors for each terminal as well as some wiring diagrams for you. The wiring diagrams may be small but there is a size limit here on fixya so I could only make it so big. If you need larger pictures, email me at [email protected] with your information and I will be happy to email them back to you. Hope this helps....

SOURCE: no brake lights blows fuse every time

there is most likely a short in the wires have you put a tow package on it if so did you splice in to the lines check all wires and see if they are burnt any were most likely short

Try replacing your signal flasher, i am not sure where it is located on your vehicle but your local dealer should tell you where it is.

Lower brake lights no longer work on my 2002 chevy tahoe but the 3rd brake light works fine. Checked fuse and bulbs and everything works fine. Just the 2 lower brake lights dont work.

Most of the time the problem is in the turn signal switch. The third brake light circuit bypasses the turn signals.
Someone would need to check brake light power in and out of the turn signal switch.

Running lights work turn lights and brake lights do not on 2004 navigator-everything works fine on my sons 98 suburban trailer brand new

does the 3rd brake light in the back window work? check fuses if fuses are OK and the hazard lights work, then the turn signal switch may be bad. I dont know what your sons suburban (trailer?)has to do with your navigator?

My break lights do not work at all. 2000 Chevy Lumina- We dont know where to begin to trace the wires we tries tracing them from the rear and couldnt find the right wire. The center light in the window does...

i am CONFUSED? you say they dont work, then you say "when you press down on the brake that the switch for the lights causes them to go off instead of turning them on when messing around with it but couldnt figure this out"........ if NO brake lights work, then check fuse 23. . if the fuse is GOOD then check wires at the brake switch. Orange should have 12V, when brake pedal is pressed then the WHITE should have 12V and lights should be on. the center rmounted stop light (BACK WINDOW) has 2 bulbs, make sure they are good. The center light is wired differently. If the center light works but brake lights do not, the turn signal switch could be bad. I assume THE TURN SIGNALS are OK? IF the turn signals are working OK, the wiring between the turn signal switch and the brake lights is GOOD

My 94 buick regals turn signals and brake lights dont work the head lights and tail lights do work we replace the bulbs flasher relay and fuses what could it be

could be brake light switch but i would be more inclined to think the signal switch is bad, the brake light circuit goes from the pedal to to the turn signal switch then to the taillights

95' Buick regal, 3rd brake light works, tail lights work, turn signals work, stoplight switch seems to work ie 3rd brake light working, fuse is ok, changed bulbs, but no rear brake lights.

If the third brake light works and the regular ones don't, it is most likely a bad turn signal (multifunction) switch. The switch is able to kill the brakes lights to run the turn signals, and in rare circumstances does this. I've seen it several times. It could also be wiring, especially near the turn signal switch, but it is usually the switch.

I have a 93 4-door grandmarquis and everything works but the brakelights.
I was told that the gear shift is possably tied into this because the gear shift is loose. Is that true?
And what do you suspect is the reason the brake lights dont work?
