Have a 1997 Chrysler Town & Country LXI 3.8 and recently when I'm driving or even just getting in or out of my van all I can hear is a really bad creaking sound coming from the front right side of my van what could be causing the problem? A friend went and tried to grease the the front right side or what ever you use a grease gun for but he told me that whatever it was is sealed and could not be greased so he tried to spray the ball joint, strut, spring and ti-rod(inner and outer) but it did not make the sounds go away. My friend also said that the sound was coming from the spring and that the ball joint and inner and outer tir-rod looks fine and also when I'm driving there is no pulling or shaking even when on the highway just the creaking. whatever the problem is how much would it cost to fix and with the year of my van would it be practical to even get repaired as I already have leaking valve cover's and was told from a garage it would cost $398.00 to fix I know that most of it must be just in labor alone as I called the parts store and was tolded that the gaskets cost only $21.00 and I don't know anyone that could fix it as it took me 2 weeks just to get my friend to do what he did do as he is not really a realiable friend ugh.:(

JacDempsey, how about shocks/struts? If they are bad, that could be what u need to cruise the highway nice and smooth the way a Grand Marquis should.

Might want to change front struts and strut plates. My strut plate on pass side made that creaking noise, once i changed it i never heard it again.

Ball joints are a serious safety issue, especially if they are making noise. Strut Rod bushings slightly less so. I agree with you, if they are that bad you should have heard your noise before you changed the tires. You didn't sat what kind of noise, but the problems he suggested should make a clunk or snap. Your best bet would be to double check to make sure he properly tightened the wheel nuts when he changed the tires, if you have alloy rims they need to be torqued. If he just put them on with an air gun he may have damaged the rim which could make it break and fall off. And take the car to a repair shop that you trust and have them check your front end. They'll be able to tell you what the tire guy did. Don't put it off because you will find yourself in serious trouble if any of these things are the problem.

Your friend is right. Those are two things that should be checked. If your tires are in good shape, you might also try rotating them.
