If I remember correctly that adapter housing has 3 o-rings, 1 big one for the housing and 2 small ones for the bolt that holds the housing on.

I have a 93 grand Jeep Cherokee Laradeo ,to change the oil pan seal , and or the oil filter housing to change the O rings , or the timing cover seal or the rear seal , dose one need too lift up or pull...

The oil filter housing and the timing cover can all be worked on with engine in car.
For the rear engine seal (rear main seal), the transfer case and transmission will have to be removed to access the seal.
Most of the time, the oil pan can be removed without raising the engine. Check your clearance under there for anything obstructing removal. (I loaned out my Jeep manual and never got it back!) On some cars, engine needs to be raised about 4 inches for pan to clear the oil pickup tube. Don't know about your Jeep.

There's oil leak on engine block where the oil filter is attached. It's the part between the oil filter and engine block

Ok you can disassemble the oil filter and loosen the bolts that connect the basis of the filter to block and this is a board of rubber or ring that is the one that sealed with the time, this is crystallizing that is why you leakage of oil by that there is a good seal. Thanks

94 jeep cherokee 4ltr. Leak at oil filter adapter

It is very hard to turn, but it will come loose, a cut off allen wrench attached to a pipe works great, as there is no clearance to do it any other way. Have at it cause the allen bolt is pretty hefty.

Oil leak near the oil filter and sending unit.

I am an "x" mechanic and had the same problem with my 94 jeep grand.

This is an adapter block that connects to you engine. The chrysler designer didn't leave enough room to put on an oil filter so the put a 90 deg bracket on to miss the frame.

At the end of this adapter you will see a ,large looking bolt with a star insert. This is called a torx.
I will have to look tonight but my memory is saying it is a 20x torx. The problem is the std torx socket is to long. 2-3" you only have 1-1/2" to get torx and ratchet between frame and adapter. I modified a std torx to be shorter. You insert into a 3/8 ratchet and put a small pipe on ratchet. This give more leverage. This torx bolt is very tight.

It is easer to remove from the bottom of car. Once it is loose you can remove oil filter first before doing or just leave oilf filter on the bracket. be shore to dump out oil before remounting bracket. There are two o'rings between engine and bracket. From the heat crack making the oil filter look like it is leaking. My engine starter was always wet with oil. After I replaced the o'rings it has never leaked again. I also saw oil leaking from my oil switch. I replaced it also. The chrysler dealer had the o'rings apprx $3.00. 1 large and one small for bolt I bought the oil sensor from Salvo's $15.00

Or you need to take to dealer.

Yes you are not crazy!. It is really leaking there.

Oil leak from oil filter

There is an "O" ring between the Oil filter housing and the adapter that will leak as well. Remove the oil filter and check inside of the housing for a large nut. Remove the nut and separate the adapter from the housing. Check the "o" ring between them and replace with new "o" ring. That's where mine is leaking and I've read a couple of others that had the same problem. The old ring started out "round" and has, over time, become flat. The new ring should start out with a flatter cross section that will seal better. Good luck! (Easy Fix, but finding the "o" ring may be a challenge. Check for the ring at the Honda Dealer as the Passport is the same basic vehicle.) Do it during the next oil change........
