Question about 2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI
2002 jetta tdi sedan automatic 85k nw lower MI, garage kept, reverse is slow to non existent when cold. this happened all of a sudden. bought it new, all the routine maintenance done at the dealer. getting ready to take it in to the dealer and don't want to go in blind.
Sounds like the pump is weak, or the filter in transmission is almost stopped up. either way not enough fluid pressure to torque converter. If it was me I would have the fluid changed and a new filter installed. In all of my dealings with transmissions 80% of the time once they are messing up it is too late. sometimes when you change the fluid once it is acting up it gets worse. that is just a risk you have to take though because the outcome will be the same more than likely
