License plate light burnt out how do i get to it to relpace it

There are 2 screws holding it in place.... be sure to hold onto the light so it does not fall into the bumper... feed the assy throough the hole then replace the bulb. putting it bacg is hard too dont let it fall inside

Most have 2 screws holding the covers on, just unscrew and pull cover off.

Hi my license plate light is not working and I already looked at the fuse box, but there is no fuse for the lights


There is a fuse for the lights. If it is just the license plate light that is not working then most likely you have a burnt out bulb. It is tied into the "parking" lights/tail lights circuit.

You have to pry underneath the outer left plastic edge of the light with a small precision flat screwdriver to hit the tab thing on the left inside and push towards the right, then pull light housing outwards. You can see the tab through the clear lens. if you have a license plate frame, you will need to remove that first.

you didn't mention what car model/type you have. anyway, this may be due to the license plate lights being burnt out, check it.

License Plate Lights Removal & Installation License plate lamp retainer clips

To Remove:
Remove or disconnect the following:
  1. License plate
  2. Pin-type retainers and the luggage compartment lid trim panel
  3. License plate lamp electrical connector
  4. Lamp socket from the license plate lamp
  5. Using a suitable tool, through the access hole, release the clips and remove the license plate lamp
To Install:
  1. Install or connect the following:
  2. License plate lamp
  3. Lamp socket to the license plate lamp
  4. Electrical connector
  5. Luggage compartment lid trim panel
  6. License plate

License plate lights go out when the trunk is shut


try looking at the wiring from the light and fallow it back to the fuse, sounds like a short in the wires if not change you fuse, you can find it by looking in your owners manual,

Dude the wires at the trunk inside break from opening and closing. you must peel back the wires covering to expose and fix these wires.
