My fan did not work on speed settings 1-4, however the highest setting would work. The problem was a bad fan resistor, which is located behind the glove compartment. You can buy a new resistor from your auto parts store for $20 or so. The fix is a bit challenging because it is in a tight spot, however with a little time you can get this done yourself. There is a panel behind the glove compartment that you should remove to locate the fan. You would need to remove the fan to gain access to the resistor. Once you find the resistor, the tough part is removing the 4 nuts (two are easy, the other two are in tight spots). Once you remove the old resistor, you can install the new one, and your problem should be resolved. Tip* - When you are removing the nuts, you can cut some of the rubber around the hard to access area to reveal the stubborn nut. That rubber doesn't really serve much purpose.

You may want to try your fan on all speeds. If it will work on high, you have a bad resistor for the fan motor. ( high speed doesn't go through the resistor ).
If it doesn't work on any speed, I would check the following;
1. Make sure the fuse isn't blown for the fan blower motor.
2. Check, or have checked the wires between the fan control switch and the fan blower motor.
3. Have the fan control switch checked.
4. Have the fan blower motor checked.
Hmm, a problem that I have not encountered before. My best guess is that some component within the heater setup is getting overheated and then it shuts off to avoid further damage. If the heater runs each time you start the car and then turns off during your travels, then this might be the case.
Secondly, there are circuit breakers located in the fuse box. These are silver and are about twice the size of a standard fuse. Unlike a standard fuse that blows once and is done, circuit breakers get hot and "trip". After they cool down the connection is made again. Look to see if a circuit breaker (sometimes labeled CB) is in the fuse box and serves the heater. You may want to get a new one.
It could be your blower switch, but more than likely it's a resistor that is usually a part of the blower assembly, and it operates the speeds. Doesn't cost much but can be tricky installing. If you had one or two speeds not working, initially, eventually all may stop. If fan stopped working and all speeds had been operating, then you may have a bad wire or blower motor. Also, check your manual for fuses, as there may be a compartment inside the vehicle as well as one under the hood.
Two possibilities I can think of. #1. The blower motor itself is dead, or #2. The blower motor resistor is fried. Blower motor resistor, however, is more known for taking out certain fan speeds, such as the lower fan speeds.
