Replace starter. Car has been running fine for last 2 weeks, however today car won't start. Battery ok. What's the likely problem?

Ronald,
When you replaced the starter, I assume you did disconnect the battery. Did you clean the posts before putting your battery cable back on? I replaced my battery a couple of months ago and did not clean them and my van ran fine for several days and then one day would not start. Cleaned the posts and cable ends and everything worked fine. Just a thought. Hope this helps!

99 tahoe wont crank wont start with new battery

Does starter click? Try turning on headlamps and get someone to watch as you try to start car. If headlamps dim, likely bad starter or battery cable(s). If they don't dim, bad solenoid, starter switch, neutral safety switch. Try starting in neutral and jiggle shifter while trying. If it starts, replace neutral safety switch.

1995 Toyota corolla wont start. the key turns and the battery turns on but no sounds after that. brand new battery, tried jumping it, no go

If it is not making sound, it is the starter that is not working. May need a new starter, a new cable, a tightened cable, or a fuse.

2001 GMC jimmy won't start. New starter, new

If the starter motor is turning the problem may be a broken flywheel tooth. If starter is not engaging the solenoid may be bad or not hooked up but that seems unlikely since starter was replaced. The problem's down there. If solenoid not clicking then problem may be further back.

My car won't start. Trys to turn over, battery isn't dead

when it tries to turn over does it crank freely? does it cough and backfire? How many miles on this car? before you sit and crank on this you should check the timing belt for anything like belt loose bad pulleys, check connections at starter for corrosion or loose connection,as well as batt connection and cables. did this run fine and the next time you tried to start it failed ? Has it done this a couple times before but started and got worse till now? after you make sure belt and idlers are satisfactory, check starter for operation, then check fuel supply, then check spark plugs for spark. BUT,before you perform any checks, hook a battery charger up to battery and charge while doing inspection and tests.

The truck dosent start with new baterry . just makes one clik sound when you try to start it

If you just installed the battery then it may need to be charged. Use a trickle charger and leave it on till it is done.

Car wont start

Does the battery have enough capacity to turn over the engine though? Even flat car batteries will still power the radio. The best way would be to jump start the car uing a set of jumper leads. If it starts you know it is the battery that needs replacing.

If it still wont turn over then it is most likely the solenoid in your starter motor. You can often tap the starter motor with a hammer and free the solenoid as a temporary fix. The starter motor is loacted at the back of the engine on the bell housing if rear wheel drive, or around the tranmission if a front wheel drive.
