Question about 2005 Audi A3
I have a 2000 Audi TT and it starts up fine and runs smoothly for about 5 miles and if i stop at a light it just drops dead. it will turn over but won't start. if i wait about 30 to 40 mins it starts right back up and runs great. this happens in any kind of weather it doesn't matter. i put it in the shop and of course it wouldn't stall for them and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. If i drive it pass the 5 miles i have to continue to press on the gas and not stop because it will fall dead and will not start until 30 to 40 mins later. Does anybody have any clues as to what this may be?
Sounds like it could be your alternator (the part which recharges your battery while you're driving.) If it's in the process of dying, it will still give a little power back, and it will seem to be doing it's job when you're in the shop, but after some driving, you'll lose power. If it isn't that, there's also a chance it could be you have a short somewhere which is draining your battery.
I would get your alternator checked first.
I hope that helps.

Try the ignition coils and spark plugs. I was having the same problem and they replaced that and now the car seems good. However they kept the car over the weekends to really charge up the battery after they had replaced all 4 coils and all 4 spark plugs.

Changing the computer doesn't sound right. Most likely a bad oil temp sensor. Make sure you are using the recommended weight (synthetic) oil.
