I have a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis rough idle, smelling gas first few minutes after I start my car. My car is also flashing engine light sporadically and losing acceleration.I recently changed spark...

flashing light most always means missfire.
could even be crossed the plugs.
you really need a code reader and find the trouble code .
but in the mean time make sure the firing order is correct.
good luck .gary

Check engine light on and flashing, car shaking, all of a sudden

you have a bad engine missfire. a flashing check engine light means you are in danger of damaging your catylitic converter and you should scan the car. most causes of missfires are plug wires and or coil pack.

Check engine light flashing runs rough not firing on all cylinder2000 lincoln navigator with large triton engine Hooked up diagnnostic and it said 1. system too lean bank #2 2. Unable to bleed up fuel tank...

you may try your rotor button and distributor cap. and spark plug wires. try your map sensor also they tend to cause a lot of misfiring if they go bad.hope this helps.

My check Engine light stays on and begins to blink when I accelerate. What could be the cause of this?

you need to find out what the code is. usually when the light is flashing it means that you have a missfire like a plug or wire breaking down or a coil breaking down. auto zone will scan your computer for free.hope this helps. please leave comment.

I have a missfire code on the check engine light. 1997 honda prel

Find out which cylinder is missfiring by using an inductive timing light to check each plug wire for spark. If you find a dead wire you should replace the all the wires and spark plugs. If you don't find a dead wire check the distributor cap. You could have a broken contact or a crack which might cause a loss of spark at one cylinder.

Honda wires are much better than their aftermarket counterparts so don't skimp there.

I hope this helps. Good luck and be careful!

Servie Engine Soon light is on and car is shaking when on

the check engine light has come on and is setting a code for a missfire detected.
have the sparkplugs and plug wires replaced.

this should cause the miss to go away and the check engine light will not come back on after being reset for free at autozone.

just resting the check light will not fix the missfire and it will come back on.

only have it reset after the service is done.

hope this helps
thank you

Check engine flashing

Your engine light is flashing because the engine computer is picking up a excessive missfire from the engine (bad spark plug, bad coil, bad plug wire) check to see why its skipping
