I have never had a wireless remote for my 2001 Toyota Camry, didn't even know the alarm worked, but when my husband unhooked the battery cables to clean them and then replced them the alarm went off. The only way we've been abe to stop it is to unhook them again. We've read the owner's manual but the instruction aren't very clear and so far nothing works. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Good luck, it is built into the electrical system.

You defintely need to get a remote for the alarm to disable it or uninstall the alarm altogether.

your alarm is the problem, if you do not have the fob for it, then get it removed. otherwise if you really want to start the motor, you will have to use a remote start button every single time until you get the fob problem addressed

Hello. If you have a FACTORY alarm system, the deactivte prodedure is to cycle the key off-on (not to start) 5 times, in the ignition. This feature is provided in case you lose the remote, or the remote battery goes dead.

Note: this will only work with the Factory system. If you have an aftermarket system, this answer will no benefit you.

Just replaced the battery and it tripped the alarm. finally got it shut off and now it just clicks when I try to start it.

If the vehicle has a 'Factory' alarm system, try cycling the jkey in the ignition ON-OFF (not to start), 5 times. This will defeat the factory alarm. This method is used in case the remote trasmitter battery goes dead, or the transmitter is lost.

This only works on Toyota Factory security systems, however.

I can't turn off the factory installed alarm on my 2005 Rav 4.

yeah. disconnect the battery, put the key in the ignition and turn it to the ON position. leave the driver's side door open, and reconnect the battery. the alarm will chirp a few times while you're putting the battery back on, but this SHOULD work.

you might as well go ahead and take the battery out of the remote for the alarm as well, to make sure its not setting your alarm off as well. you can replace the battery in the remote once the battery is reconnected in the vehicle. the remote might need to be reprogrammed if the alarm goes off again, otherwise its time to go to the toyota dealership!

!!WARNING!! make sure the key isnt in the position to START the vehicle, you just want the key ON. make sure that nothing else in the vehicle is on, and also, be VERY careful when reconnection the battery, as it will spark when it makes its connection. if you have been charging the batter a lot, make sure to give the battery time to cool down, because when car batteries get hot, they emit hydrogen, which is explosive. this IS a risky move, but is the only thing you can do, unless you either install a kill-switch or charge the battery and drive to the dealership while the alarm is going off. sometimes, when you start the vehicle, the alarm will stop, but im assuming this isnt your case.

If after unlocking the driver door with the key and still no luck, put the key in the ignition and turn forward to start (if it won't start turn forward anyway) then push you're red reset button on the dash. That should do it.

Can not lock car by key remote . toyota rav 4 53 plate

If your car has an alarm with a separate remote, it is a separate system and it is probably self-arming. When you lock the doors with the key central lock, the alarm gets armed by the RAV4 being OFF and the door locking action. When you unlock the doors with the key, the alarm is still armed because the key is not comunicating with the alarm just the cars factory keyless system.
