as per your solution the car should consume 20litres of gasoline (petrol)for 200km of road distance.i did my conversion based on us convertions units question now is:in the dashboard of this car the mileage guage is it in mile/h or in km/h,because in my car i have both numerical indication for both m/h and km/h but the meter reading below i don't know yet if it's in m/h or km/ i need to know that to verify the car consumption of petrol we use benzin unledead lebanon.

thank you and your answer was helpful but my question is if you know on the dashboard of this car there's 2guages indicators one for the total mileage since the car started to run and the seconde indicator is to show us the current mileage the car did while passing a specific talking about the seconde indicator is it in m/h or km/h.if i know this i can say and calculate exactly if my car is consuming more or less give you an example when my car is empty from fuel(benzin)and i feel it 20litres of benzin the reading on this seconde indicator after finishing the 20litres will be 90 to 100,my question is these 90 or 100 is m/h or km/h.if i know than i can clarify if the car is consuming more fuel or less.thank you again for your understanding.

My 99 Accord was driving 400-420 miles on a gas tank, after the fuel crisis we had (may be because of bad fuel quality?) my car started consume more gas and now I can drive only 300 miles per tank. I changed wires and spark plugs- didn't help. I drive mostly HWYs. Also it looks like it lost some power. Do I need to change fuel filter? Thank you.

Why do u ask such a question, if the check engine light is not on then the system is normal and does not have an excessive fuel consumption issue, if U understood modern electronic engine controls and how excellent they control fuel air ratio's u would understand this, as to running a MPG test, run the car until it is half full, record the miles, run it down again and then record the mileage diff, divide the number of miles to at fill it by the gallons to fill it, wa-la, MPG figure.

I have no idea, it is based on to many factors, the most important is U the driver and how you drive the car.

This car under normal driving conditions should get approximately 24-28 miles per gallon of gasoline. Slightly less in city driving

I am a bit curious about your question but here is my best answer.

100k is about 60 miles right, it should consume a little more than 2-gallons of gas. As for the mileage this vehicle is 13 yrs old the average person drives about 12,000 miles every year . Its should have about 156,00 miles on it with normal driving. Please leave me a feedback hopefully a positive one. Hope I answered your question.

I have a 2005 honda accord and the fuel consumption is too high what is the cause and the solution to handle it.

The first thing is to check for fuel leaks and for restricted intake or exhaust and ensure the routine maintenance is up to date.

It is important to know what the current fuel consumption is in miles per gallon or km per litre. The modern trend of paying set amounts of money gives a wholly false impression of actual fuel consumption.

When checked accurately over a period and averaged to take account of different types of driving conditions, freezing temperatures and so forth, mostly the result is found to be not as bad as first imagined.

If all checks are found to be ok and the accurately checked consumption is still too high further checks will be needed.

A few possible faults are incorrect fuel pressures, bad injectors, incorrect valve timing, "tired" oxygen sensors, bad thermostat, "tired" temperature sensors...

Wheel alignment, tyre pressures and binding brakes can also be factors...

Have high fuel consumption on my fiesta 1.4 fuel injection.11 lt/100km. car runs smooth.

high fuel consumption Petrus, sticking E brake, poor gas, tune up needed, lazy O2 sensor,
leaking injectors, driving habits, etc. all can cause more fuel consumption. Have it scanned to help determine cause.

Do you remember by chance speed vs RPM before & after work done? for example : before was 2000 RPM @ 60 MPH. Now 2200 RPM @ 60MPH ? May be coincidence, and transmission not shifting to overdrive or high gear.

The fuel consumption sounds about right for a turbo, perhaps a little high. Hwy consumption depends on how you drive. If you cruise at 100 kph, you should get around 8 L/ 100km. Round town, about 10 L / 100km.

Fuel Consumption

A Honda Accord is a full size car/heavy and therefore would have high gas consumption, probably around 8~10 Km/L city driving. Highway would roughly be 10~12 depending on your driving habits.

A full tune-up of course would help which may include but not be limited to change of sparkplugs, adding car/injector cleaner to the tank, checking/replacing the air cleaner, double checking/cleaning/replacing the MAF (if it has got one).

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
