Go to Autozone.com and register your vehicle for free. Once you do, you can get free wiring and fusebox diagrams for your car.

Then check the Relays for the ignition. You may be able to switch the horn relay for the important relay to test the car. Just note the numbers on the Relays to match them.

Check the Ignition switch, and fuseable link. The SES system like the rest, require power.

SOURCE: 1999 Olsmobile Aurora will not start

Definately the ignition switch. The main relay has 2 sides to it. Its turns everything on like fuel pump ecu and ect. when the key is in the start position. Then the other side of it is the simply run side which keeps everything on but disengages the starter. You can fix it by taking it apart but its better to just go ahead and get a new one. I dont think they are that expensive.

SOURCE: 93 olds cutlass service engine light turns on periodically

have you had someone plug a computer into it and see if it is logging a code? this code be a v.s.s. sensor, to a fuel code. you might run the car by your local mechanic or autozone, advance auto, pepboys etc, they will normally pull the code for you for free and let you know what the outcome is. good luck any other questions just let me know i'll try to help.

SOURCE: When I start my 2001 alero the anti-lock, traction

the anti-lock and traction lights will come on together if there is a common problem with the two, since they are closely related. may be a wheel speed sensor or something similar. the service engine soon light indicates a problem with the engine computer, can be anything from an emission system problem or an engine performance problem. all of these lights can come on with no apparent running problems on the car. the service vehicle soon light is basically a maintenance reminder, an oil change light. take the car into a shop and have the codes read for these lights.

Whatever else would make a service engine soon light illuminate on a 1989 Odsmobile 98 Regency with the 3800 engine.?

The ses lite needs voltage and ground. Voltage goes hot when you turn the key on. The computer controls the ground circuit. I can't rule out, your instrument cluster may have a problem? The ground circuit could be shorted to ground before it reaches the computer. Or the computer has a problem? Just my opinion.

Trooper starts from cold no problem when engine warm engine management light comes on and is difficult to start engine turns for a long tme before fires up

no year, no engine stated, i4 or v6?
the cause is many hard starts
the lamp glowing means get car serviced
or scan it yourself and read the service book on that error or errors, and do the tests stated there.

as far as poor started
THIS is called misfire.
and has 50 causes

#1 is never getting a full tuneup this decade.
ill not list the nifty fifty,
in a shop , they use tools
to conduct tests (engine/spark/fueling)
saving the 50 guesses.

hot starts fail or weak
engine not really hot 180f + themostat bad.
or ECT reads 140 when its 180f actual,ECT bad.
causes flooding that. and hard hot starts.
scan the ECT when hot. first.

Ran it out of gas, now runs fine cold, as soon as its warm starts hard, and stalls when put in drive

Is the \'Service Engine Soon\' light on? Only from what you described, it sounds like the engine\'s running in \'open loop\' (fast idle, cold) okay, then when it\'s supposed to go into \'closed loop\', you have a malfunction. Checking the trouble codes will pinpoint the problem; your truck is pre-\'95 so it\'s the older OBD-I and you could get the trouble codes by grounding the proper terminal in the ALDL, counting the blinks of the SES light and using it to determine what electronic control device is malfunctioning. If no SES light/trouble codes and since you ran out of gas (?), it might be time to replace the fuel filter and possibly check the fuel pressure and/or fuel pump.

My service engine soon light is on and when scanned it shows an e vap code

Evaporative emissions, i.e. gasoline fumes. The fumes in the fuel system are collected in a canister and are then purged during normal driving to be burned by the engine. The ECM (electronic control module) checks the evap system each time the key is turned on. If the system fails the test enough times, the ECM will set a code and turn the SES light on. Possible causes: Damage to the canister, purge lines or valve, but most commonly it's a loose fuel tank cap. Buy a new cap, make sure it's tight after each refueling and if that was the problem, the SES will eventually turn off. You could also take the quick route and just clear the code after replacing the fuel tank cap.

I have a service engine soon light and the code that appeared when check is 1481, do you know what this means?

Service Engine Soon (SES) or Check Engine Light On, DTC P0480, P0526/P1481/P1484 Set (Replace Engine Cooling Fan Wiring Harness) #05-06-02-012B - (10/19/2006)

Models:2004-2006 Buick Rainier
2002-2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer, TrailBlazer EXT
2002-2006 GMC Envoy, Envoy XL,

Some customers may comment that the Service Engine Soon (SES) or Check Engine light is illuminated. This condition may be intermittent and upon investigation, the technician may find either DTC P0480, P0526, P1481 or P1484 set.

This condition may be caused by the cooling fan harness chaffing against the plastic guide it routes through. This contact may damage the insulation of the wires enclosed in that harness.

Replace the wire harness:
Part Number 89024920 Description Harness Assembly, Engine Cooling Fan Wiring

Good luck and keep me posed.

Will not start

Won't start.... Do you have spark at the plugs, good fuel psi? Does it try to fire or just turn over and nothing else?

Car runs fine but bogs down under a load on the highway.

On this fine problem, you're looking at many possibilities. Only sure way, is to test things. Are you getting a SES (Service Engine Soon) light? If you do, start there, run the code and see what it is. If not, possible things could be, your spark plugs are old and cannot burn the fuel, you pretty much have a misfire, fuel injector(s) are dirty. Many things really. My car had that problem, and turned out I had a bent intake valve, so like I said, could be many things.
