Question about 2005 Cadillac CTS

1 Answer

Odometer discrepincy A friend took a 2005 cadalac to a local caddy dealer for a rear end noise, when the car was picked up from this dealer there were chips in the windshied, the grill, hood, and bumper, of which they denie doing. This car came from a body shop where it had just had a total going over and was taken directly to the caddy dealer. What ands to the mess is that after driving this car for about 40 miles after getting it from the dealer I checked the odometer and it then showed a 7 mile differance from when it was checked in at the dealer. My question is how easy is it to change the milage on that odometer. The reason I ask is I believe someone took this car for a joy ride.

It is actually impossible to change the mileage on that odometer. The ONLY way to insert a new mileage number is to completly replace the insturment cluster, and reprogram the mileage with the GM scan tool. Once the car has even .1 miles on it, you can not change the clusters mileage.

you can buy a new unit from a dealer or get one from a local junkyard, these in general bolt to the floor, you may have to remove the seat part of the rear seat to get to the bolts, its just a remove and replace situation as long as you get the exact same one

Had the exact same problem with my 2005 Dodge Neon. One place told me it was the alternator, and replaced it, only to have it happen again 3 days later. Dealership couldn't figure it out at first until it happened again (right after I picked it up from them and got about half way home.) Turns out it was a bad battery cable.

How to tell which rear end i have in my 89 ramcharger

There will be a part number stamped into the rear end. The dodge dealer can look it up. Also, if it's the stock rear end, the vin number is all you need to tell the dealer.

I have 2 problems. First the front end of my 2005 Grand Caravan makes a thumping noise. I thought it may be the struts or stabilizer bushings, I took it to a dealer and they said that it is niether and...

As for the front noise. Sounds like the ball joints. They wear a groove in the cup, where they sit. When they go over the lip, they make a thump sound. As for the rear wiper arm. If the arm has been taking off, folks strip the knurl teeth out of the arm. If the motor is working back & forth right, & wiper arm is tight. Oil the hinge pin on the wiper arm. They get alot of dirt on the back window. If all else fails replace wiper arm.

Whenever I turning into a parking spot my car

This is caused by deterioration of the Fluid in the rear differential of the car. This occurs when the rear end is opened at its extremes at first and will progressively get worse to the point where it will make the noise all the time while driving. First the fluid in the rear end needs to be changed, and replaced with the appropriate Honda fluid (either vtm 4 fluid or dual pump fluid depending on model) if the doesnt immediatley fix the problem, there is a burnish procedure that your local honda dealer can perform for you which involves changing the fluid and cleaning the clutches inside the rear diff. Good luck!

Marble noise from rear end

Had the same sounds, and so has my friend with the same year jeep. We both had work done on the rear wheel bearings, and the sound returned for both of us. I took mine in to the dealer and was informed that the bearings had worn the location the bearings actually fit into the housing into an oblong shape and they replaced the entire housing (under warrantee, no cost to me, so it wasn't a scam).

Noisy rear bearing?

Is isnt the rear end it would be very bad shaking and wouldnt last long because it would throw a bearing out. So its most likly the wheel bearing and you can just take it to a local automotive shop.
