My lowbeam headlights don't turn on. Even after I replaced a new bulb. My car is a 1990 honda civic. My headlights, on my 2005 Honda Odyssey, will not work on "Low Beam" but will work on "High Beam". All of my fuses are good and the bulbs are good. All of the other lights work just fine. Why won't my headlights work on "Low Beam"?

If the bulbs have been replaced with new ones and they still don't work then check the harness that connects to the bulbs.

    ----------------------------------------------

Check the wiring with a test light. If you are getting voltage at the headlight then your low beams are burned out.

If you have no voltage, check the fuses under the dash, there is a pair for high beams and for low beams.

    -----------------------------------------------

the high and low beams are 2 different lights. usually the high beam still works when the low beam goes out, you just have to replace the whole bulb/lense. its only like 8 bucks.

    -------------------------------------

or it could be bad switch

Lowbeams on headlights are out ,what's the cause?

Check out the bulbs - could be that the low beam filament has burned out - very common since they are used the most. If both filaments a re good check to see if both are on the same fuse and replace it.

Replace driver side lowbeam headlight on a Honda 2005 Civic EX

  1. 1 Locate and remove the power steering reservoir from behind the driver's side headlight assembly. Pull straight upward, sliding it off its mount and set aside for access to the headlight bulb. Make sure you keep it upright so it does not spill.
  2. Step 2 Locate and remove the electrical connector from the back of the bulb. Depress the locking tab to release it and pull the connector down, removing it from the bulb.
  3. Step 3 Turn the bulb counterclockwise ¼-turn then pull the bulb straight out of the headlight assembly. Insert a new bulb into the headlight assembly and turn it ¼-turn clockwise to lock it in place.
  4. Step 4 Install the electrical connector by plugging it into the bottom of the bulb. Push the connector in until the locking tab engages the bulb, securing it to the bulb.
  5. Step 5 Slide the power steering pump reservoir onto its mount.

1989 HOnda civic Wagon-- headlight bulb replacement

You should have a rubber boot over the bulb with wires going through it. Pull back the rubber boot to expose the bulb housing and grasp firmly and turn counter-clockwise a 1/4 turn and the bulb and housing pulls out. Replace the bulb and reverse the procedure. Make sure not to touch the new bulb with your bare hands, this would leave your skin oils on the bulb and could blow it out prematurely.

My lowbeam headlights don't turn on. Even after I replaced a new bulb. My car is a 1990 honda civic.

If your parking lights come on, but not the headlights, and the bulbs and fuses are fine, it's the switch itself. This is an easy fix. You can get another headlight stalk at a junkyard out of another Civic, or buy one new on eBay or at a dealership. To replace it, unscrew teh trim on the steering column (take the plastic covers off the column, from below), and then unscrew the switch module at the base of the stalk that has the headlight switch on it. The switch will then hang from its wiring harness. Simply unplug it, plug in the new one (test it to be sure it turns the lights on), and then reassemble the trim after mounting the switch. It will probably take you all of 10 minutes to do it - nice to have fixes like that:)
