Does the idle return to normal after a moment? if so this is automatic idle speed control and is normal, if the engine didn't increase in idle when started it would stall every time.

My 97 accord would only go 30 miles per hour but the rpm s were going to the red line. the engine was reving on it's own. what could be wrong

The problem is in your transmission [automatic transmission] or clutch [standard transmission] Check the level of the fluid in an automatic transmission. Check for proper free play in the clutch of a manual transmission.

I have a 1988 mk 2 golf when i start the engine the heater warms up as normal but when the engine warms up the heater starts blowing cold air out. also now that the cold weather has started after driving...

sounds like the thermostat stickng as when engine gets cold the choke will start workin again, causing the over reving or your electric fan is on all the time "over cooling" the engine

What are the uses of high raise of the engine (RPM)?

If the engine is cold it will race until warm. If the battery voltage is low the ECU will use a high speed to charge the battery.

Reving High and Won't Start

I have an idea... why don't you have a 'qualified Hyundai Technician' diagnose the problem?.. First of all, you describe an Engine Management System problem. I assume it a 1.6 DOHC engine. There are numerous suspect causes for your problem. Example, Idle speed actuator, Cam Position Sensor, Throttle Position Sensor, Injectors, Crank Position Sensor, Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor, Engine Coolant Temp Sensor, Heated Oxygen Sensors, Mass Airflow Sensor (this one's my favorite.. along with Throttle position sensor), Intake Air Temperature Sensor, and the list goes ON... vacuum leaks, throttle body problems, PCV problems, Oh!.. and let's not forget plugs, wires, coils, fuel pump problems, etc. The one most often found as cause for excessive rev is the ECU (Engine Control Unit). Try this out... disconnect the battery. Take the the pos (+) cable and connect/touch it to the neg (-) cable for 60 seconds.. then reconnect the cables to the battery. Tell me what happens after you drive it for awhile. If it's still acting up... take it in for diagnosis.

07 pacifica 3.8 eng. with 4 speed At low rpm's 1200 to 2000 it shudders and has a jerky feeling. It runs great at 70 mph at 2200 rpm and has good floor board acceleration . 4 dealers fail to acknowledge...

Well there is a rev limiter built into the pcm on your car. It is much lower rpm's in park and neutral. When u hit the rev limit of a particular gear selection, the pcm starts cutting out the injectors(fuel). This is normal. As far as the jerky feeling, the only thing I know of is a service bulletin that may apply to your car. It involves a revised torque converter for the transmission. It would only apply if your feeling this at speeds of approx 35 mph or higher when the torque converter lockup engages after a shift. Ask your dealer about a possible tsb for this if you think this may sound like your problem or search for tsb's(technical service bulletin's) yourself on the internet.
