Sounds like a crack between intake valves, go to the autoparts store and get a compression tester, this will tell you. Compression should be the same on each cylineder

2 degrees before TDC is the best setting. Slightly more advanced (1 degree or TDC) will work if your gas is really good quality.

Location of a sensor

Replacing a CPS can be easy or hard. On the 2002 Gallant 2.4, it is located behind the timing belts. Removal of the main pulley, the covers and the belts is required. This isn't as hard as it sounds and is essentially the same as changing the timing belts.

Low temp.

Consequences are poorer fuel mileage and possible Check Engine Light. I'd start by replacing the thermostat, and flushing the coolant system.

What's probably happening is the thermostat is stuck open, allowing coolant to freely flow through the engine. This lowers the internal temperatures and keeps the combustion process from fully completing (causing worse gas mileage). Start with that and see how it does.

Mitsubishi pajero, 1996, alternator died, had it reco'd, now car

The starter is suspect here and is easily bridged (NOT in gear please ! ) The clicking behind the glovebox is normal . This happens during cranking but you don't hear it because of engine turning over. The engine reset you may be thinking of generally covers fuel and central locking in saloon cars mostly , but not the srarter circuit.
