Drivers side electric window won't come up

The window was up when I locked up the car in the morning, when I came out in the afternoon the window was down and would not roll up. I can here the motor running and can see the window but it is not catching to roll up. Is there an easy way to fix this yourself or if you have it repaired does it run into money?

Did you disconnect the battery & re-connect it? If so did the window motor stop? If it didn't, remove the door panel & disconnect the motor plug. I don't know what kind of regulator you have if its the old strap type, you may now have a hole in the strap stripped. If it's not then the "stop mechanism may be damaged. As for the cause, If windows are controlled by a module, check the switch, then the module. (I once had a customer with a BMW that had a bad module that would open and close different windows at random while driving. (It's funny when it's not your car!!)

I had the same problem. I use a pin to push the switch from the bottom up. Obviously it is more pressure than using your fingertips.

My 2007 vw eos drivers window won.t close, all others works fine

Could be the master switch because the drivers window is mostly used, or the window motor/regulator. same reason. Easy to check with a volt/ohm meter. You'll need wiring/pin outs for electrical.

Can't operate electric window on driver's side door

The door panel will have to come off. check for a bad motor or wiring to motor, or a bad drivers side switch. check the fuses first! and is the drivers side window locked on drivers side, just push the unlock window from the master controls on drivers side to see if it works. on my car, the drivers side window would not work. I accidentally hit the window lock with my arm. God-Bless!

I have a 2004 Cadillac CTS and after changing my battery the driver side windows won't go down. the whole electrical on the driver doors isn't working. what do i need to do?

First check your fuses (Manual should have that location for the window fuses). Also do the other windows go down on the other side with the switch on the drivers door? And what else doesn't work ( Mirrors, Locks )?

1999 Ford Expedition, After putting driver's side window up and down this morning, this afternoon it won't go down. Does the window have a fuse that might need to be replaced?

Do you hear any noise when you activate the switch? If no, then the switch itself has gone bad or the electric motor is drawing too many amps to work. Remove the door panel and check the connector at the motor for power when you move the switch. If power, then the motor is bad.

Good afternoon....what would cause my 2008 Chevy

It could be the power lock motor. You could have a short or bad wiring harness. Might just be a fuse that connects to both. But since you said it's only the driver side. When the power lock motor is bad it can trigger your alarm because they're wired together.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

Power window on driver side stopped working and the door locks stopped working . Also this morning the battery was dead but nothing was left on.

It sounds like you may a faulty door lock switch. If you pushed the switch to lock the doors and the switch stuck and kept door lock solenoids energized, that would drain the battery. It would also keep the door locks from unlocking, as to why window don't work it could all be on the same fuse or circuit breaker. Usually the power windows are on an automatic reset circuit breaker. Do you hear click and a short time later another click (with the battery charged)? If so that the circuit breaker tripping then resetting. Good luck!
