Check Engine Light lit

Check engine light has come on and will not go off, has been coming on intermittently for the past couple of weeks. Seemed to go away when i fiddled with some wire connections the other day but hasnt today.
Would it more likely be the air sensor, fuel, turbo or map sensor? Any ideas?

My engine light came on. The code is P0130. I was told it was an 02 sensor malfunction. What is this? Can I trouble shoot it? Or, do I need to take it in for service?

    Thanks,
    Candy

If they told you it was ur oxygen sensor it more than likely is, seems to be a fairly common thing for them. Hopefully someone can confirm it before you replace ur oxygen sensor as its not a cheap thing to replace. You could just try wiggling the wires that go into the top of the sensor unit.. seemed to fix mine...

I took my car to the Subaru dealership (repair dept.) and they found that the wires to the sensor were disconnected. For $40 that was alot cheaper fix than having to have my oxygen sensor replaced !

Most likely it is ignition related, next time it comes on just take it to an autoparts store and ask them to pull the code they will tell you what it is or give you a code then come and send me a message i will cross refrance what the code is and get back to you on how to fix it. so let me know what you get and if this helped please leave some blue =)

My check engine light has come on and off for the past couple of weeks and I've noticed a burning smell after I turn the car off. What could this be?

Hi Cynthia
I believe that the engine light comes ON and OFF caused by a faulty O2 sensor or the catalyst converter is faulty (blocked or broken) witch also cause the burning smell.
My advise is to get your vehicle checked/ scanned by a technician, this is not a DIY job.
Good Luck.

Probably not a glitch but an possible issue with the crankshaft position sensor intermittently losing its signal to fire the coils. The crank sensor should be ohmed out when the vehicle is warmed up and when it is cold just to verify that it stays with in operating specifications. If it does not then it will need replaced.

You are at the beginning of a charging system problem. Items included are Alternator, battery, drive belts, wiring and ground circuits.
If you are a backyard guy, pull the alternator and get it bench tested.

Engine stalls, check engine light, not fuel filter.

the white smoke as it stalls could be steam in the exhaust. This is caused by coolant leaking into cylinders from a leaking head gasket. You should check cylinder compression next with a compression tester.

Hey. Over the past few weeks my 1997 Legacy GTB 'check engine' light has been coming on intermittently. I know the best thing to do is to get the computer scanned but do you know of any instances when it...

Most common problem with intermittent check engine light on these type of vehicle is 02 Oxygen sensors especially when it goes on and off. one a few occasions I've seen the need for a tune-up bad spark plugs wires/air filter etc. Best thing to do is to get it check by a some scan tool with odb 2. You can go to Auto-zone they do this check for free. Godd Luck
