How do you remove the spare on a 2005 chevy colorado

Spare Tire Colorado 2005 will not come down.
The safety hatch was rusted and did move when the friction powered lever tried to release it when the tire was lowered with the crank. The spare came down an inch or so. I used a flashlight to see how the hatch worked. It was easy to see the mechanism thru the openings in the rim. If the hatch has got the slightest friction due to rust, it will not move, since the force delivered by the lever is very low due to the low torque given to it by the friction coupling at the crank axle. The function of the mechanism can easily be seen on the pictures. The procedure to get the spare down after a long time of not being in use is as follows:
  1. Crank down the spare a little in order to release it so it can be turned around for maximum accessibility of the hatch system, which is accessed thru the rim openings.
  2. Shine with a flashlight thru the openings and locate the hatch pin and the maneuver lever.
  3. Move the crank a little back and forth to learn how the lever works. Let go of the crank after a tire-down movement. The lever is supposed to release the hatch. The hatch will of course not release, since it is frozen. Normally the hatch is returned to "lock" position with the aid of a leaf spring when the crank is rotated "up".
  4. Grab a crowbar or similar rigid steel bar and persuade the hatch to open by just bang on the pin in the same direction that the lever wants to move it.
  5. When you see that the pin, which is attached to the safety hatch, has moved to the end of the groove, then continue the cranking in order to lower the spare to the ground.
  6. Remove the spare. Use WD40 to loosen up the hatch and all moving parts, but WD40 is not a long-term lubrication solution. After the WD40 treatment, use a good industrial lubricant or motorcycle chain oil to lube the hatch. Just soak the whole works with oil!
  7. Exercise the spare tire mechanism at least once or twice a year to keep it in good condition. Use your oil spray every time and the system will probably work fine for the next century...
One picture, the one where the system is not lubricated shows the pin. The lever is moved away from its working position to show the hatch pin arrangement. The other picture shows the system in working order.

How do you release the spare tire on a 1992 chevy lumina apv van?

Look at the bumper around the center of it. There should be a hole (sometimes has a cover).
One of the tools that should be with your jack goes in there. It looks like a long flat screwdriver. Insert it into the hole and turn it. A cable will lower the spare as you crank the tool. There should also be a tool, like maybe the lug wrench, that has a square hole in it. That would be used as the crank handle.
Now is the tube that is located behind the hole in the rear bumper is not there, you're kinda screwed. Something would have to be used to reach the mechanism above ther spare so it can turn it.

We have a chevy 1995 chevy lumina the head lights go out during long drives at night == now either the lights are tired or I have a problem. Also where is the fuse box on this van.

Sounds like a charging problem. I would have the alternator and battery checked out. Most places do this for free. Places like auto zone or les schwab. Your fuses are located drivers side underneath steering wheel to the left.

Trying to locate spare tire and tire jack. purchased used. cannot find jack or spare tire

You can locate your spare tire under and between the rear tires.
Your jack is located in a compartment in a left rear compartment near the door. You'll see it when you open the rear gate. Check the left panel and lift the lever.

Where is the spare tire located on a 1995 ford aerostar?

Section 00-02: Lifting, Jacking and Spare Tire Stowage 1995 Aerostar, Ranger, Explorer Workshop Manual
TIRE STOWAGE Tire, Spare, Removal, Aerostar If the Aerostar is a standard length vehicle the spare tire is mounted inside to a carrier at the left rear quarter panel. To remove the spare tire, remove the wing nut and plate. A flat tire can be temporarily stowed in the same location.

If the Aerostar is the bus with a standard length body or extended length (all models), the temporary spare tire is stowed at the rear of the vehicle under the body. The Aerostar standard length E-4WD bus spare tire is mounted on the floor.
  1. Insert lug nut wrench into the actuator hole and turn counterclockwise until the cable extends to allow the spare tire to be pulled rearward from under the vehicle.
  1. Slide spare tire to the rear and remove the retainer from the wheel.
  1. To stow cable/retainer with spare tire removed, insert cable fitting into carrier rear wall slot, place wheel retainer against the carrier, and turn lug nut wrench clockwise until slack is removed.
please rate, thanks

Spare tire removal

If the tire does not lower with the jack parts from the access door then you will have to put the jack up under the presseurerelease in the middle of the tire till it releases.
