2001 Camaro Battery/electrical problems in cold weather

Last winter my car started having problems with starting. First itmade a high pitched humming noise(not very loud but noticeable) comingfrom the dash while i was driving. Then when i turned off my car allthe gauges would shoot up then back down and there was a clicking noisecoming from the dash. I tried locking the car with my remote lock butit wouldn't work and my when I opened the door the car had no power. Itried to start it up and there was nothing not even a click. Then whenI push down on the brake and try it, it started up. I got my batterychecked and they said it had a bad cell so i got a new battery andeverything worked fine after that. Now about a year later all this ishappening again. I am going to get the battery that is less than ayear old checked tomorrow. This only seems to happen during the coldweather any help would be greatly appreciated and I will keep postedabout the battery.

99 land rover discovery hard starting when cold

Your Land Rover is no doubt fuel injected.maybe cold start injector. injects gasoline when starting in the cold, carburated vehicles used to have a choke to enrich air/fuel ratio when starting in cold.

You can try insulating your battery (cold might still get thru) or purchasing a solar recharge kit from an aftermarket company. Cold weather will affect the chemical reaction between the plates of the battery and will not put out the high amperage required. I would also recommend to keep a portable battery booster in case you cant get a solar charger. Keep the booster in a warm bag inside your trunk and always charged for when this happens. Keep it during the duration of your winter weather. In summer you will be fine.

Starting problem during winter/cold weather/chill weather. What should I do?

have ur battery alternator or starter tested at the local parts place. the cold weather will kill cells in ur battery and have some affects on your alternator or might have a weak starter. Hope this is of some help

Very hot alternator after just replacing and a high pitch squeel

THE ALTERNATOR CAN GO OUT DUE TO A WEAK OR BAD BATTERY CAUSING IT TO OVERCHARGE TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH DEMAND ON THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. IT WILL HAVE A HIGH PITCH NOISE WHILE CHARGING AT A HIGH RATE AND FINALLY IT TO WILL GO BAD.

HAVE THE BATTERY TESTED AND CHECK THE CHARGE RATE AT THE ALTERNATOR AND AT THE BATTERY.

THE FUEL PUMP IS LOCATED IN THE FUEL TANK. IF IT IS WORKING YOU WILL BE ABLE TO HEAR IT SQUEALING WHEN THE KEY IS TURNED TO THE RUN POSITION PRIOR TO ACTUALLY STARTING THE VEHICLE. IT WILL BE A HIGH PITCH. IF NOT THEN THAT WOULD BE A STARTING POINT. ALSO FUEL INJECTED CARS HAVE A COLD START ENRICHMENT VALVE THAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM. THIS VALVE CAUSES A MOMENTARY FUEL RICH SITUATION SO THE ENGINE CAN START. IT IS BASICALLY A CHOKE FOR FUEL INJECTED ENGINES.
