1996 Honda Odyssey strange, intermittent ABS problem

Hello everybody
I have 1996 Honda Odyssey with 240k on it. Car drives perfect, except one problem that occured about 6-9 month ago. When I turn key to ignition position, all lights would light up on the instrument cluster and few of them will turn off in a seconds (like usual). Then when I start the car, the rest of lights will turn off except ABS light and I hear a "click" from under the dash on passenger side. Sometimes, in the period after I start engine and before I hear that "click" , I hear ABS motor pumping and sometimes not. After that I will shut engine down and restart it - light will come on again. Sometimes when I worm up engine and restart it - light may turn off and might not. I know that the problem is not in the sensors, because car is parked and not moving. I tried to clean wiring connectors at the pump with electrical contact cleaner and it did not help.
If anybody had this problem or knows what it could be - PLEASE HELP.
Any suggestions, opinions and information will be appreciated !!!!
Thank you in advance !
Andrew

had a problem with my rotars being warped, changed them and now the ABS light comes on and I hear a clicking sound. Sometimes it will shut off while driving. Had it checked and the computer says nothing is wrong, no error codes. It seems to be interupting the electrical a little too because I hear the radio break up slightly when it clicks.

    Any suggestions?

If you are absolutely sure that the all the abs sensors are good. Then the only other factors are the abs unit itself and the abs computer. Please have the system checked with a a scanner to make sure. Remember the only way to an ABS light will reset is by driving the vehicle and if every component of the system is fine the light will go out. Because your light is on there is a problem in the system and your abs is not functioning when the light is ON .Good Luck

My 2000 Honda Odyssey (240k) made a loud clank noise when I went slowly over a speed bump. Now, when I turn the wheel-- either driving slowly or in park-- I hear and feel two or three rubbing or snapping...

The Hondas do have at the back suspension arms which are holding the wheels,Big suspension bushing, which when they snap off or cracked, are causing clank noises because are not holding enough the rear axle. on the other hand the vehicle loose the tracking as a result to cause wear and tear of the rear tires as well. Ask from your local mechanic to examine your car.

1999 Honda Odyssey engine stops when driving.

Replace the ignition switch. Honda had a recall on this, but my experience is that the new ones will fail too with age.

Electrical problems with my 96 honda accord

This happens because the removal of the current to the computer or CPU gets de-programed. You may be able to solve the problem (if it comes up gain ) by disconnecting the negative cable with the engine off. Then renstalling it back after a minute. This will reprogram the computer.

Engine Floods after brief start and run when cold -then shut off

Local mechanic determined engine was flooded and started it by holding throttle to the floor and cranking 5-7 seconds - then the engine sputtered to life. It has run perfectly before and since and I'm at a bit of loss to understand why this occurred this one time - so far. It's been driven now 5 days with no problems.

We found our solution...a new ignition. :-( One day the key stuck in the ignition and refused to be removed! It cost us around $350.00 to have a new ignition installed. No way around it.
