Re: fuel filter location
The oil filter is in an aluminum cylinder on the engine. It is not a "spin on" filter, it is now a cartridge-type filter. When you get one, make sure that you use the new o-rings provided in the filter box. The fuel filter is in the tank. Hope this helps, the graciousness of a FixYa rating would be appreciated. Thanks.

As you are standing in front of the car with hood open, the oil filter is located directly under the left side of the exhaust manifold and to the right of the alternator. The filter angles upward, so have a drip pan directly under the filter location when you remove and replace with new. Another tip: The filter removal device that works the best is the type that attach to the end of the filter and you turn with a ratchet wrench. You will need a short extension for the ratchet wrench. Longer one will not clear the radiator fan when trying to remove. Wrap around filter wrenches do not allow enough room to clamp on and turn the filter loose. In some cases, you can hand remove them. This is much easier with the Fram design filter that has the rubber in the bottom of the filter housing; easier to grip and turn.
it is located in front of the oil pan towards the front side of the car and remember it is not a metal filter anymore......it is a cartriage type filter and is located inside of an alum.housing that has a place to put the oil filter wrench up on it for easier removal........i hope that this info will help you and i am can help in any other way let me know and also you can help me by letting me and fixya know if i was any help to you at all and a comment would be greatly appreciated.....thanks and good luck and have a blessed day........
the 2007 avalon has a cannister oil filter loof under the passenger front of the car youl see the oil pan and drain plug its just in front of the oil pan towards the front of the car its metal casing with a small square in the center thats where youl need a 3/8 exstension and ratchet to loosin the cap to change the gasket for the cap when you get your oil filter it comes with a small plastic piece so you can drain the oil out of the oil filter case, to change the oil filter itself you need a toyota specific oil filter tool to loosin(can get at any toyota dealer run about 20 bucks) take the filter out change the gasket around the case and thats it hope this helps
