Are you talking about the check engine light? If so it needs to be reset with a code reader. then if it re illuminates you still have an issue.

Rough idle multipule misfire

Hi. The most common cause that I have found for an " only idle misfire" is low compression. The engine needs at least 100 psi of "dry " compression to idle smoothly in most cases and if any cylinders are higher or lower by more than 20 percent of any other cylinder, you will also have an idle misfire condition felt. Should you perform a compression test, make sure to disable the igntion system completely, not just move the ignition wires out of the way as you will still have spark and the fuel injectors will still inject fuel in nearby proximity to possible ignition source. Always perform two tests, "dry" and "wet" compression. "Dry" is warm engine with spark plugs removed. "Wet" is after performing "dry" test add a few drops of light oil into cylinders and perform compression test again to see if the number rise. If they rise, you have worn piston rings or cylinder walls. If they do not rise, you likely have worn valve seats, misadjusted valves, or head gasket issues, possibly cracks in the cylinder head. If you need to know how to compression test with a tester in detail, message me back and I can help. I'm assuming you may already know due to the fact you state you replaced all the parts likely by yourself so you probably have strong technical merit.

1999 Suburban 5.7L Misfires when it rains.

Did you change the plug wires?A good way to find an ignition problem is to take a spray bottle with water and spray your engine. This will show up bad wires or ignition arcing in the dark.Try spraying the coil also.Hope this helps.Good luck.

My gmc saffari has a really rough idle and the ses light is blinking. I cant figure it out

A blinking SES light means only ONE thing...You have a severe engine running problem that is fixing to destroy your catalytic converters if it has not already done so. (EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE IF NOT FIXED IMMEDIATELY!) You need to scan your engine control module to find out what is going on.

My guess is that you will have one or more cylinder misfire codes. If this is the case, you will need to find out why the cylinder(s) are misfiring. This is usually due to bad plugs, wires, ignition coils or injectors. It can be caused by several other things like a stuck EGR Valve as well. If you have a 4.3L Vortec engine, these are notorious for broken injector lines inside the intake plenum.

Ses light flashing, truck running rough

Good Evening. I'm sorry to hear your truck is running bad, however I can give you a few points to check on. Your flashing SES light is because you have a misfire in your engine. The misfire could be caused from things like spark plugs and wires or a cap and rotor, low fuel pressure or bad gas. Or the other things like an intake leak or a bad valve so diagnosing is harder without the code that is set while your SES light is on. So get a scanner hooked up and see which cylinder it says is misfiring and go fron there back to the wire to the cap etc. Hope this helps and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

Changed all 8 plugs on a 1998 expecition, then misfires started under load, none supposedly prior. changed all coils, reinspected plugs for damage, crackes etc-changed some again- no codes during first week...

The first thing I would check is, are any of the plug wires crossed. Your firing order should be 1 3 7 2 6 5 4 8, the cylinders are number front to back passenger side 1 2 3 4, drivers side 5 6 7 8.

I have a 2000 gmc sierra 5.3 with a number 6 cylinder missfire. things i have done so far: 1. compression test on number 6 tested fine,as well as the rest of the cylinders 2. leak down test. Held...

I would check the valves for number 6. If one or both are burned, stuck or out of adjustment it would cause your problem. If a cam lobe for that cylinder is burned or badly worn it could be the culprit.
