Question about 1995 Chevrolet Corsica

1990 Chevy Corsica 3.1L V6- Ran out of gas- Relay, fuel pump?

So i ran out of gas and put gas back into the car and drove it home. The next morning i had the crusie control on and i was going about 70mph. Then my car cut off. Has plenty of gas and all fluids are good. It just wont start. Is there a way i can check the fuel filter? Where are the relays??? Is there a way i can tell if its the fuel pump?

I got it towed by AAA and the lady did this little test with her key in a hole on the engine. She said there was no pressure. This is why im pretty sure it has to do with the relay, filter, or pump. Someone please help!!!

Unfortunatly on GM vehicles when the fuel pumps run dry they usually damage themselves. The problem you are describing sounds like a bad fuel pump. When you turn the key to the run position you should hear the pump come on for 5 seconds and then shut off. It should be a medium pitch whine but sound smooth. Unfortunatly on GM vehicles the tanks must be removed to change pumps and depending on the climate you are in could show other problems. Here in Michigan on vehicles of that age they will usually need new tanks and sending units due to rust. I get around $500 to replace a fuel pump. Of course the price goes up with the more that is needed replaced. Hope this helps

You do not have a reset switch on a Camaro, your problem would either be a fuel pump relay or the pump itself.

I ran out of gas put 5 gallons of gas in the car drove car 2 miles. Filled it up. Went to eat. Then drove car 20 miles. Car sat overnight would not start next morning. Relay was changed. All fuses good....

By running the car out of fuel you may have damaged the fuel pump. You need to perform a fuel pressure test with a pressure gauge to see if the fuel pump is working and is working at the proper pressure. You might check your fuel filter as well. I suspect a bad fuel pump.

Coils and wires are the most likely culprits as they never get replaced hardly ever. You cant really test a coil, you can check for resistance on the plug wires but that doesnt tell you if the insulation is bad on them.

Ran out of gas. vehicle started, ran, drove home,

the fuel pump runs for 5 seconds when you turn key to ON. It runs all the time whie cranking and after engine starts.

Spray some starting fluid into throttle body & see if it starts then. If yes, pump may be bad. Can you hear pump run in fuel tank?

i have the same problem right now. the relay is located under the big black box on passenger side of engine compartment. There are three relays in there. orange, blue and white. I dont know which is associated with the fuel pump though.

There is probably a fuel relay somewhere in that circuit to, that may be faulty. Check your front drivers side inner fender by shock tower for 3 relays. It should be the middle one.
