I have a 2004 1500 and the switches dont light up or engage into 4wd.

I had the same problem at 36k mi and they replaced the actuator. I now have 100k and it is doing it again. Is it easy to replace? I looked for scematics online but no luck. It is going to snow anyday now and dont have 4wd. I also have to get firewood but need 4wd if needed in the mud.

I was driving my 2003 silverado at about 15 miles per hr. my gear was on 2 wheel drive and all of a sudden, service 4 wheel drive indicator came on & locked on low 4 gear. I turned off the vehicle as the manual suggested; however, to no avail. I drove home and parked it for the night. When I woke up the following day, the truck was back on 2 wheel drive and everything seemed to be working as usual. I took it to the dealer today and they are keeping it overnight because they can't find anything yet. IS THIS GOING TO COST ME AN ARM AND A LEG!

Imitsubishi shogun engaging 4 wheel drive

no year?
never drive, part time 4wd on pavement, unless said pavement
is ice or snow covered.
only AWD allows pavement (tires direct upon) driviing.
part time 4wd is for offroad , off pavement driving,
this is because 4wd has no center differential.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four-wheel_drive

and with out such, winds up the drive line fast. and breaks it.

wiki states (no year stated by you)
Part-time four-wheel drive was standard on all models. to 1991
then came
ActivTrak 4WD
cept
4H (high-range full time four-wheel drive), 4HLc (high-range four-wheel drive with locked center differential) and 4LLc (low-range four-wheel drive with locked center differential
so do not use LOCKED on pavement. on active track. only 4H
the wiki states the Super-select is retained 2006 to present.
Super-Select 4WD II

read the glove box manual under 4wd

Tires changed and now 4wd lock flashing

Did you have same size tires put on ? With the light flashing there is a DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code stored , have to have diagnostic tool hooked up . That's the only way your going find out what the problem is .

Wont shift out of 4wd

If rear end is up in the air only. And it turns. Then know its not in four wheel drive. If u put the rear end up on jacks and leave the front end on the ground and then put it in four wheel drive its going to pull the truck off the jacks Danger. Does the truck try to come of of the jacks. If yes then its in four wheel drive. Should also be a lite on the dash. Saying 4 wd

My Suzuki jimny will not go into four wheel drive, the four wheel drive light is on on the dash,it is a 2004 thanks.

Will the leaver not move? Try reversing a little, the forward. This might let it slip in place. Sometimes you get transmission wind up, causing the 4wd drive not to enguage.
If it won't come back out try the forward and reverse thing again.
I don't understand the light being on and your still not getting 4WD!

What is auto 4 wheel drive?

Auto 4 wd is when the Silverado's PCM takes readings from the front and rear driver shaft and when there is any detection that the speeds are different. The Auto 4WD will activate the transfer case to lock it self to 4wd until the front and rear drive shaft are running at the same given speed of rotation.

Just got H 2 2005 4 buttons 4 the 4 wheel drive

Use 2 wheels, the other 4wd low ,for climbing at slow speeds: 4wd high, for driving on low traction roads, like mud or snow,at medium speeds: 4wd auto full time all wheel drive, for highway speeds on slippery surfaces, like rain or light snow.
