SOURCE: the driver's side power window is stuck half way up on 1998 buick century limited. What is the problem?

It could be the fuse, does it go down? If not chk. fuse, if fuse ok, see if you can help it down by pushing down on window wile working switch, and also same wile trying to go up, if it don't work or if its slow chanses are the motor is tired and needs replaced or its lost power like bad switch or broken wire. there is also a chanse it came off the track in witch case the door panel will have to be removed.

SOURCE: 98 corolla drivers side window won't roll down or up well

I just repaired a 1999 Corolla (160,000 miles) window regulator with the same problem. I checked the motor commutator windings for shorts and the motor was OK. The brushes were still good. The motor is built like a clock - extremely well made with almost no indication of wear. Bench testing showed that the motor would not rotate once it had been run for a few seconds.
Elsewhere on the Internet someone mentioned a PTC Thermistor. This was exactly what was causing the problem. This is a special type of resistor "in series" with the motor that increases resistance when hot. It prevents the motor from drawing much current when stalled at the top or bottom of the window travel or in event of a jam, etc. The thermistor doesn't look like a standard "Radio Shack" part. By pulling off the motor top the magnets and commutator pull out. The PTC Thermistor is the two large copper plates separated by a silver looking material about 0.001" thick that are in series with one of the brushes. To fix, short out the thermistor. I tested with a small clip of copper wire. I made a permanent fix by soldering a jumper from one plate to another. During assembly, don't break the brushes.
The power window works great! I don't need an "electronic minder" to stop power to the motor at the top or bottom of the travel; I can do that. I don't intend to place my head in the window and push the button. If you have kids, this fix might not be for you.

Switch setting on drivers door not correct. May be in lockout to prevent accidental operation when driving or the switches themselves are faulty.

Wow that is a strange one. I took some time to look at a schematic and came up with the express down module that is part of the drivers master switch. When the window is up you can unplug the passenger switch and that window wont work at all but I don't know what your money position is. Good Luck and God Bless.

Every time i start my 98 buick regal ls my drivers window goes down

The only wiring schematic I could find for your car is for the 2000 Buick Regal, but I hope this helps,
since it gave me a reason why starting a car would cause the driver's power window to
go down, and no other window in the car - it has a special circuit component
(the "Express Down Module").

Its possible that the Express Down Module in the power window switch circuit has failed. This
module latches the "Express Down" switch in the "made" state until released by the "Express
Down Module." If the Express Down Module is latching the Express Down switch when it
shouldn't (at power-up) instead of when it should (at the window "down" limit), then the driver's
window would lower when the driver starts the car. The way to tell if this is the problem is to
note how fast the driver's windows goes down - if it goes down ALL THE WAY, then you know
that the "Express Down" circuit is involved (and therefore suspect the Express Down Module).
If the driver's window only lowers part of the way, then the Express Down circuit is exonerated.
See the various components of the driver's power window circuitry in the
2000 Buick Regal power window circuit schematic below.

All 4 window wont go up or down on my buick century. all windows stop working at the same time.

With all the windows quitting at once, start with checking the fuse. Some cars list a specific fuse location but there are other fuse locations that state " fuse # controls windows, *********other components. If the fuses are good make sure the relay for the windows are good.

remove the inner door pannel the screws securing it will be in the handel and hiden clips around the edge prise them away with a flat bladed screwdriver, once removed you will see the window glass that has come off its runners, undo the winding mech from its fixings and reposition the glass in its runners, you can lock the glass in the up position with a piece of thin wood or simillar if you cannot fix why it came off its runners,
