Transmission problem 2004 pontiac montana van

My transmission on my van slips, when I shut off and restart the engine I will go for a while then about 2-3 miles it will slip again and I have to shut it off and start the engine again. When this this happens it seems like the tranny is gone.

I also own a 2004 Pontiac Montana and within 2-3 miles it begins to kick at spped of 10, then 20, etc.

My 2004 Pontiac Montana begins to kick at 10mph & every 10mile increments. 10mph, then 20mph. Shut off the engine, restart it and it begins to kick again after driving 2-3 miles. Dealer cannot find problem.Took it back to dealer several times, still they cannot find problem. Warranty is running out in a month. When it runs out, the dealer will find the problem.

2001 montana when I stop at a light or stop sign van will not move until I shut off engine and restart whats up I have only had this for 10 months still paying for it

If the vehicle came with a warranty that is still valid then you need to see if you can get service under that warranty. With all due respect, it is a 14 year old vehicle and , over time, everything goes wrong eventually.
It sounds like an odd issue, maybe something to do with the lockout solenoid...this may come into effect when your rear lights are out, maybe the solenoid is playing up.....could be a transmission fault but the cure makes that a little unlikely.
If there is no warranty take the vehicle to a montana specialist if there is one near your home, they may have detailed knowledge of likely causes

My 2004 pontiac montana wont start, need help ASAP!

no the transmission shift cable is streached and needs to be adjusted. you should be able to shift the van to neutral and start it in that gear. just watch when you park because it will roll away. use parking brake. if it doent start in neutral then your cable may be snaped and not noving the gear selector on trans at all

Do you mean a 2006 Pontiac Montana mini-van ?
The starter should be where the engine and transmission bolt together.

My 2004 montana shifts into 2nd an 3rd but wont shift into drive and there is no slippage

That is called overdrive. You have an electronically controlled transmission, so you must have the control module checked for codes with a special tool called a scanner.

2004 Pontiac Montana. The wipers start but then stop after moving just a little and then go back down. They do not come up all the way.

Hello Sebpgood.

O yes, the notorious GM van wiper problem.
The clutch mechanism on the wiper motors are difficult to say the least.
The spline on the shaft from the wiper motor may have slipped putting the wiper motor to wiper transmission out of synchronization.
These are tricky to get back in time.
Also there is a tab on the crank arm designed to catch the clutch that wears and/or bends down and will not allow proper operation.
Most of the time I replace the crank arm assembly as they are prone to wear.
Check all the parts on the wiper transmission for siezed pivots and bent arms.
I hope this helps you towards a repair.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Easy way to get transmission out of pontiac montana 2002 van? Have almost out doesnt seem to have room to get out wheelwell.

Transmissions never come out from the wheel well. You need to remove the sub-frame and let the transmission out from the bottom.

Tune up

Slipping tranny can be caused by that. Rule of fixing cars is if not sure start cheap. Replace the Filter and fluid. Also it wont hurt to put in Lucas Transmission Additive with the fluid change. Change plug 2 ways if it has motor mounts on top then disconnect them and pull the engine foward. or

No need to rotate engine as I was told that sometimes this causes damage to exhaust link which is flex. First two plugs can be reached by going along the same channel as exhaust pipe from header runs. Last plug remove right side tire and you can reach up by body to change it. This one is blind, but it's possible.
