This sounds like a stuck switch in the door lock assembly. it will make the locking system work like its got a mind of its own. The best fix is to first try cleaning the latch on the door it has a switch to tell the car if the latch is open/closed. Use an old tooth brush with some degreaser scrub the base of the latch on the door. After its cleaned up relube it with some white grease or dry graphite. Then try the lock again. If this doesn't solve it then the lock assembly has a faulty switch inside and replacement is the best option

Vw golf mk4 my rear passenger door willnot open with central locking key system. i can't even open it from the inside, pull the door handle and the lock pin rises but door won't open. i believ

This worked for me on 2008 Mk5 Golf, after the rear passenger door would not open fro outside or inside.

Hold the inside door latch open and keep it extended, then with the key fob open and close the door locks (still holding the inside latch open). Keep locking and unlocking the door, then it made a kluck and it released.

I can use the key fob to lock my all doors plus the boot, however when trying to unlock the car only the drivers door unlocks and I have to use the button in the car to unlock the rest of the doors and the...

Not sure if this is right and don't want to come accross a belittling but have you tried pressing the key fob twice? I'm sure I read somewhere that pressing it once will do the driver's side and that a second push of the same button will unlock the other doors. Unfortunately, I don't have remote central locking on my Golf but hope this helps!

Central locking on golf mk5

Any chance the batteries are dead in both of them? There's a little light on your key fob. Try locking/unlocking and watch the light (it's red) if it's dim or not lighting up then your battery (inside your key fob) is dead. They take CR2032 watch batteries.

Imobiliser problem

If im not mistaken, your car should have an alarm reset/override.Below the steering column,on the dash should be a slot where you put your remote transmitter to deactivate the alarm. If that works, you then need to have your remote checked and coded by a vw dealer.Good luck.
