The EGR valve is located right behind the multi port. ( the black plastic on top of the engine. it is kinda difficult to remove it if you have no experience with) I don't think is serviceable but some folks I know had told me that once removed, you can clean it with carburetor cleaner. the valve runs about 215 Dlls. at your local autoparts store.

You must be talking about the EGR valve. You didn't state your vehicle 's engine size and I am elected to do that,so we are using the 98 year. Here's a link to what it looks like, easy to remove, just disconnect vacuum hose, remove 2 bolts holding it on,it has a gasket on it,may need replacing if you remove.

Do not dissable it. You EGR may be dirty with carbon build up. Remove the EGR vavle and clean it up real good, and make sure the ports are cleaned up that the EGR bolts too. Then see it if goes away.

I have a 99 Windstar 3.8L Keep getting DTC PO401 have replaced DPFE EGR Valve and EGR tube still keep getting Code PO401

Does the egr vavle open ? You will need to use a scanner to test the dpfe voltage when the egr valve is energized you should read around 3.5 4.00 volts. Also you could remove the vacume line from the egr valve and with the engine running you should see around 100 rpm drop in engine rpm at least this would indicate the egr valve is capable of flowing egr gases through the system to the cylinders.

1996 OLDSMOBILE CODE 1406 FOR 3100 ENGINE ?

P1406 is saying the pintol position is not correct on the EGR vavle. You could remove the EGR valve and check to see if there is anything blocking it from closing and if so clean it and reinstall it.I would suggest replacing the EGR since they are elctronic and it has always been the EGR failing on various GM vehicles in for repair.

Obd2 scanner code reader indicated a p0401 problem with my 1999 mercury sable. What could be wrong. According to the handbook that is given with the scanner p0401 is an egr with insufficient flow.

your egr valve may be bad or you mite be just clogged. take it off and see if there is any deris in egr vavle or the hole on to mounting service if so clean out. if not replace the egr valve.

2001 pontiac aztek egr vavle replacement

Hello. I used to work in a GM dealer. It is seldom the EGR valve that is the problem. If it is code P1404, the problem is a PCM calibration. Take it to a local dealer and they can reflash the PCM. If you want to get technical about it, the PCM is and emission control device and should be covered by warranty for 8 years or 80,000 miles.

EGR Valve

real easy. remove the top of the airfilter, then pull the bottome piece out. the egr vavle is on the engine with that tube going into it. there are 4 small bolts, 2 8mm for the tube, and 2 10mm to the head. should take about 10- 15 mins to replace. make sure the engine is cool.
