The pinhole is spraying upon exhaust manifold and other hot hot underhood items and evaporating ..causing smoking and never hitting the ground...replace suspect and all others associated with cooling system there to be sure...good luck

Smell of coolant and smoking

smoke from exhaust could be cracked head or blown head gasket but normally when one of these two things happen it runs crappy if it runs at all smoke from under the hood you may have a pin hole in your radiator or hose or even heater core put some stop leak in it watch for puddle of anti-freeze under the hood and on the ground keep a close eye on your tempature gage and a close eye on you anti-freeze levels and dont add fluid when the motor is hot this will crack your heads good luck.

I have a 1999 plymouth voyager 3.3 liter van that is leaking antifreeze. I assumed it was probably in one of the hoses. When I got underneath to investigate it seems to be leaking from the rear of the...

I am assuming by anti freeze you mean the radiator coolant.

If it is leaking from the rear of the engine then it is very likey a few of the welch plugs are leaking due to rust.

You need to replace them. Hopefully it is not the engine head gasket which can cost a lot to replace.

My car leaks antifreeze smokes when u turn it off but doesn't get hot

a simple pressure test will tell you where the leak is coming from. typically a car can nave very low anti-freeze and not over heat, the smoke that you are seeing is most likely anti-freeze that is getting on the engine or exhaust manifold and causing the leaking coolant to smoke ( burnt coolant will have a sweet odor). chances are that you have a loose or bad hose clamp or hose some place. However it is my opinion that you should start with a pressure test and isolate where the leak is coming from.

My 2001 mercury sable is loosing anti-freeze, I do not see any signs of it leaking but when I am sitting idle at a stop light steam appears to come from under the passenger side of the engine compartment....

You have a small leak, probably in the radiator. You do not see drips because the coolant is leaking onto hot engine or exhaust parts or the hot radiator, and evaporating. This is why you see steam.

My car recently shut off when i was driving in town. it did not have much oil in it and it had an oil leak i pushed it off the road and put oil in it but the car didn't start. i noticed the antifreeze tank...

Could be several things from radiator ,hoses, water pump, FREEZE PLUGS ,cracked head or block. You need to find out where the coolant is coming from to determine it.
If the car was hot and you poured fluid in it the block, head or head gasket could crack. If it was cold and you just had watr in it the block could crack or freeze plugs could have came out.

We have a 2003 gmc Envoy V6 4X4 Automatic has 108000 miles on it i see that the hose was replaced going to the radiator we smell antifreese under the hood and having to put anti freeze in the over flow...

Well, the fluid from the radiator could be evaporating. Is the upper hose solid when you shut it off?

If you 'smell' antifreeze there 'is' a leak.

Is the fluid 50/50 strength antifreeze to water?

Usually, if there is a leak, it will drip to the ground or come out of the tailpipe (in the case of a bad head gasket).

It is not unusual to have a car with 108,000 mi. to have a leak somewhere.

Keep looking and topping off the fluid.

I have a 1994 Honda accord ex. It is leaking antifreeze

If your antifreeze is leaking into your engine oil, it will destroy the engine quickly. Check the level of both. But...you need to get a pressure gauge on it to apply pressure to the cooling system to see where the coolant is going first. White smoke is a sign of coolant in the engine oil.

The anti-freeze/coolant seems to just disapear.

first check the exhaust... if it is white you have a blown head gasket.... next issue may be a stuck thermostat next place to look is the water pump, there is a "weep" hole on the casting, if that is leaking you will need to replace the water pump

Losing Anti-Freeze

hi get it prussure tested if you are correct in saying there is no sign of a leak or signs of water in the exhaust then you will have a leak and what is happening is it is evaporating as it leaks hence on sign of leak usually theseleaks are found where hose are near something hot example exhaust manifold the pressure tester will make the leak visable yates210456
