So I traded my motorcycle for a 1987 MR2 without full knowledge about the car(BAD IDEA). I took the cd player out of the dash because the car didn't even have any speakers so I was wanting to see the electrical on it. Turns out that there's a bunch of wires that are disconnected and concealed behind the cd player. Would explain why some things on the dash don't work. My only problem is that I need a wiring diagram for the dash so that I can hook all the wires back up together so I can have a fully functional dash.
Does anybody have a wiring diagram for a 1987 MR2 that they could email me or something?
Would it help to have the diagrams from the Haynes manual....I could probably scan and send them to you. But since I probably won't check this post again you might want to email me if you want them. It's a hotmail.... eclypsed@.

hi Its located in the TOP of the fuel tank itself which is in the centre of the car. Its possibly the hardest part to get to in a mk1 MR2 as you have to drop the tank.it is not a 2 hour job. Be sure to set aside an entire day to getting this thing in and out. You must disconnect all electrical line going to the gas tank. These are located under the center concole. Then remove all fuel lines to the tank. Removing the coolant line made things more accessable. If you are replacing the pump, dont forget a new tank o-ring. I would also recommend replacing the fuel sender unit at this time as well. Good luck, please comment and rate thanks
Open the rear bootlid behind the engine and there are two carpet panels on each side covering the light electrics. they are held in by fastners, push each fastner at the centre to release them. Remove the carpet panel to get access to the brake light. Twist the bulb holder and replace the bulb. Then replace the carpet panels using the fastners.
Pull the Fuel filter, replace it, and fill it with B-12 Chemtools and hook it back up. this will clean the insides of the carb. Clean up the outsides of the carb and check it's adjustments. This can be done with a vaccuum guage. You adjust the mixtures until you get the most vaccuum off the intake. You want a solid vaccuum line off the intake and you will need to take the mix screws all the way in and 1.5 turns out for a good starting point. And remember, if you move one you move the other. But check your timing first, it could be off.
I had same problem with a 2005 Envoy in Jan '09. I took it to the ex-GM dealer. He said he'd try. The unit would only play using radio. Mechanic took unit out of dash, and top off of unit. Ejected CD bu moving the eject mechanism. Replaced top and unit. Works and plays cds. Cost $25.00 And i tipped the mechanic $10.00 for his knowledge.
