one of the bolts holding the McPherson strut to the steering knuckle (the part that turns and has the hub on it) has an offset washer on it. loosen both bolts (don't remove them) and then turn the bolt that has the offset washer on it, it will move the steering knuckle back and forth to adjust it. once you get it to the proper adjustment, tighten both bolts holding the McPherson strut to the steering knuckle without moving the offset washer. Now, having said all of that. the average home mechanic does not have the equipment needed to properly adjust the alignment on any car. The proper fix would be to take the car to a good mechanic that does alignments.
I will have to guess at this question since you don't give much information. Some cars have Mcpherson Struts at front and back of car, some have Struts at front and shock absorbers at rear. Struts and shocks would have to be checked for ware as well as lower control arm bushings. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.
have to take the wheel off then need a special tool to compress the strut so you can seperate the ball joint from the control arm. then take out the two bolts holding the strut to the spindle. then take out the three bolts holding the strut in the engine bay
I believe these are equipped with McPherson struts and a spring compressor is required to replace the struts.
It is possible to DIY but the spring compressor is mandatory to prevent the compressed spring surrounding the strut from wreaking havoc once released.
This model doesn't have shocks. It damps bouncing with McPherson struts. The front struts can have a new cartridge installed while in place, but it's an involved process. The rear struts have to be removed to replace the struts -- a more involved process that requires some special tools. The struts last a lot longer than shock absorbers, but are not nearly as easy to change when the time comes.
