Question about 1984 Ford F 250
I have a 93 7.3 non turbo with an auto trans. At around 45+ MPH upon slight acceleration it seems the tourqe converter is not sure if it wants to lock in or not and it will engage and disengage causing a chatter. After it does this a few times the light on the shifter for tow/haul mode will flash and the converter locks up. The transmission now shift very hard but there is no chatter. It will do this with the tow haul button pushed in or not. Any ideas ?

SOURCE: tow/haul light wont turn off
I have found that on three silverado's there is a plastic clamp on the bottom side of steering column where the wires become broken and can short out. You have to remove the column covers to see this, it should be claser to the lowe dash trim panel area needs a shifter to repair unless you can fix that little wire!

I had a problem with my tow/haul button not working. I came to find out that the gear shift had cut the wire running to the button in two. You may want to check that.

SOURCE: 03 f-350 trans hot
I would begin by checking the transmission fluid level. If it's ok, then that means that your transmission has overheated. Have it checked for overheating damage by a professional transmission shop. If everything checks out ok have them add a secondary transmission cooler. This will allow the transmission to cool down faster under heavy hauling conditions. Hope this helps, good luck!
