Question about 2002 Ford Explorer

1 Answer

Rear right door power window is stuck halfway down.

All other windows work fine. It is not a fuse as I can hear the mechanism, it simply doesn't move the window up or down. I'd be happy just to get it closed for now!

There is a little plastic type of bracket that the glass for this window is mounted on to, its probably broken and the window fell off the track. Therefor the motoring working but can't roll the window up. You make nedd the complete window regulator assembly. Good Luck

I have a power window issue with the rear drivers side window. 2001 Cadillac Deville. The window does not move but I hear a click...The other windows work. Is there a fuse for each window?

  • That click is the window off tract. You need to pull the door panel off and have a look at the tract and regulator. Sounds off track to me. The fact that it is click tells me that the power feed is not the issue and the fuses are working fine or you would not hear any "clicking."

The electric powered right back window does not work. I hear the mecanism work but the window does not move up or down

The mechanism works? Check the mechanism, it might be worn out. At least you do know it's not an electrical problem.

Where is the power window fuse located?

Depends on the year. Newer trucks have a fuse box in side the cab and one under the hood. You can check your owners manual first. Power windows are usually protected by a circuit breaker instead of a fuse (silver box looking thing). A very common problem is the window regulator assembly breaking. So if you hear the window motor running and the window doesn;t move it is probably that. Good luck.

2004 VW Beetle Convertible. Drivers door window could not go down yesterday because of ice. The window still works but it does not perform it's drop down and going up as it should when door is opened and...

can you hear the motor trying to work the window? A fairly common problem is the window regulator breaks. this is the cable operated lifting mechanism that raises the window, when it breaks you can hear the motor winding away, accompanied by a faint clunking noise as the motor tries to operate the mechanism. They are quite difficult to replace.
if you cannot hear the motor working (also assuming all your other windows do work) then either to motor is faulty or there is no power to the motor. the wiring inside the rubber boot that goes from the car to the door (by the door hinges) is prone to breaking due to the constant flexing back and fourth as the door is opened and closed. switches can also fail, you may be able to swap the drivers/passengers switches around if they are identical for testing.

Window on driver's side doesn't come down

a metallic grinding sound is probably the noise you hear. this indicates the need for a new (or salvage) window regulator (your window lift mechanism). I usually suggest a dealer part and get a local glass shop or your favorite mechanic to replace. If you've been inside a door panel, this may be your next project.

Electric window 1991 F150 ...351

If the lock is trying to move, like you hear it but nothing really happens, replace the door lock actuator. i believe the windows are on the same fuse. Try removing the interior door trim and tap on the window motor lightly with a small hammer while holding the switch. If the window moves, replace the motor. If not, check for power and ground at the connector. If you have power and ground (which switch when going up then down) then replace the motor. If you dont, repair the circuit.
