When cold starts but dies.to start, peddle to floor, rev a minute then it idles but at times dies when accelerating from a stop. Raw gas smell present and puff of blue smoke when it starts.

have you checked the cylinder compressions as backfire and blue smoke can be a symptom of low compression , either rings or valve seats but would need a dropdown test to be sure

Runs then gets warm and quits running and want start till cooled.

I believe even when is cold running is not powerful enough and also have fuel consumption as well. If so check the valve clearance if are adjustable.

Where is my 1998 Saturn sl1 fuel shut off located?

Can you actually hear the fuel pump running when you turn the key to the "on" position? If the answer is yes, then the shut off switch has nothing to do with it. However, I've noticed that my 1998 saturn sl doesn't have a shut off switch. If it did, it would be located behind the quarter panel. If the pump is working, I would make sure that gas is getting to the motor by checking the schrader valve. When you pop the hood, on the right side of the motor, there's a valve that looks similiar to a tire stem valve. Use a screwdriver, and move that "pin" inside the valve, and see if gas sprays out, if it does, then your problem is somewhere else, not related to fuel system. If you still think that your "fuel line" is clogged.....on the 98 models, underneath the car, right by where you put the gas in, there's a fuel filter, which has a regulator built into it. I would replace that. Could just be a clogged filter. I hope that this helps.

I have a Saturn SL 1998 Man.Trans. When the car is cold, I walk out to start it and the car cranks right up, I notice the temperature gauge goes straight to half way point and the coolant fan immediately...

There is a sensor its the ects sensor. Its in between the EGR valve and the upper radiator hose on your car. I just changed mine two days ago. And it fixed my problem. My car was doing the same exact thing yours is. The temp. gauge in your car should be fixed after you put this sensor in. And it should start up. It's a little two wire sensor that you need. It has a yellow wire and i think a brown wire on the plug end of it. Good luck and let me know if this helps. Thanks James Booth.

1998 chevy S 10 won't start in cold weather. starts just fine when around 25 degrees or so. looking into cold start valve and thermo time switch, but don't know location of either, or how to check.

a coolant temp sensor will cause this problem if it is reading warmer than it is outside this will give lean condition .the sensor is located by the t-stat follow upper radiator hose down to housing.the sensor has two wires. thanks for your question.

1998 saturn sl will not start if it gets bellow 32 degrees

I would check the cold start valve. It is also known as the fifth injector. It injects a small amount of fuel only during cold weather. Also might be called an enrichment valve. The same a s a choke on carb. models.

Saturn sc1 starting

check coolant temp sensor located at driver side end of cyl head. remove sensor and check or cracks. also check connector for corrosion. if cracked, go to dealer for replacment. they eill sell you a new designed metal sensor to replace your cracked plastic one. dont buy aftermarket, they will not be accurate. cracked sensor will cause eng. to run rich. may start ok cold but not when hot.
