Question about Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

1996 cavilier 2.2L engine, 2 door coupe. Three weeks ago engine stalled out and would not restart until it cooled off for about 30 minutes. It then restarted and ran with full power and performance but had a plug wire arching. I changed the plugs and wires and the car ran great for three weeks. Now it won't run after it reaches full operating temprature. If you let it cool off for about 30 to 60 minutes you can drive it with no problem, full power and performance until it warms up again then it quits running.

possible fuel pump. Try spraying starting fluid into breather while someone is cranking engine. if vehicle tries to run it is fuel problem. If not it could be an electrical componet overheating and cooling and restarting. Coils, relays, ecm.

92 SL1 Intermitant stalling problem

Fuel pump,Fuel pump, Fuel pump,,, high mile cars will always out live their fuel pump. The stalls will become more frequent. But first change fuel filter if it has one outside the fuel tank, if it has it in the tank just replace the pump at the same time. Also next time when it stalls bang the bottom of the tank with your hand and try starting.

1996 cavilier runs great until it warms up

It may be the ignition module. You will need to check to see if you have spark to the plugs when
it stalls. If not the module may be the problem. You will need to remove the module and take it to
a auto parts store that has a tester that can check it.
