Question about 1992 Toyota Previa
Hi, i need to override the shift lock on my 92 auto estima. the key has snapped in the ignition, so ive started it up using a flat head in the plastic starter behind the ignition barrel. all fine, it starts as usual, but wont get into gear, the shift lock is now permantly on.
any help appreciated, thanks.
put a 12 volt test meter on the battery with the engine off and get the reading.
then start the engine and retest the volts it should go up a volt ot two.
if the test readings are the same then the alternator is bad.

It may be the starter motor contacts which are worn. I have done this twice (on 2 different estima's myself. The starter will not turn or not properly. New contacts for these Denso starters are available on ebay from nipponnev for about £10 delivered and take about 1 hour to fit. No need to buy another starter. Hope this helps. Regards, Paul
