Question about 2002 Ford Escape
I have a 2002 Ford Escape. I am having a problem with the ABS light coming on and then the vehicle quickly looses power and stops running. I have replaced the battery but it seems it seems the alternator is not charging it. I took it to a a mechanic and they tested the alternator and said it is operating fine. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem with the the vehicle?? I found a recall NHTSA 07V156000 that talks about the ABS light and an electrical short and malfunction but Ford doesn't show my vehicle needing that fix. Please please help! It is Christmas Season and I am shuddering at how expensive this will be and how long I will be without a vehicle while I save for the repair.
Did they test the alternator on or off the vehicle? The best bet is to measure the voltage at the battery with the vehicle running. should be at least 13 volts or more these vehicles have a computer controlled alternator and might have a problem with the computer
