Turn ur car on defrost and check to c if fan is running. It should kick on on defrost. If it does not try checking fan or relay or your fuse. If of does and still gets hot maybe a good coolant flush will work.

SOURCE: overheating problems

The first thing that I would check would be the resistance of the engine coolant temperature sensor, This is the sensor that tells the computer how hot the engine is and allows the fan to kick on when the temperature reaches a certain threshold.

Ensure coolant system has been properly filled.
Carry out all air bleed operations as specified by the manufacturer- (don't forget to open the heater core supply valve).

SOURCE: 2001 cruiser radiator fan is not running at all

check the fan motor to see if it has power to it with the key on,with a test light if it does not it could be the coolant temp sensor or the fan relay,if it has power replace the fan motor.

SOURCE: the fan on my 2006

Check the temperature sensor, it is probably in the thermostat housing at the engine end of the top radiator hose.

Radiator fan on my 2001 pt cruiser only engages when the air conditioner is on. When the heat is on the fan doesn't work causing the car to overheat. Do I need a new fan?

probably not . There are fuses to check and a relay to check as well as the coolant temperature sensor to check . If the engine overheats when you have the heater on it suggests an air lock in the cooling system . Have the system pressure bled along with all the other checks.

1998 intrigued Oldsmobile with 3 hundred thousand miles on it it runs hot only when drivin it

sounds like a thermostat issue or could have an air bubble in the system caused by a small leak or underfilling or improper bleeding of the system. there can be NO air in the cooling systems of new vehicles!!! they will lose prime quickly and overheat!

My 2004 PT Cruiser overheats whenever I idle for too long and when my air conditioning is running and the car isn't above 2000 rpms I don't know what the problem is?

Hi Laura. It would seem that the electric cooling fan is not cutting in when it is meant to. Check the cooling fan fuses first, (there should be two, one for the engine and another for the AC) Take the vehicle for an inspection and a scan, asking the mechanic to take special note of the fans and sender units which control the operation. Regards John

The serpentinte belt on my 2001 pt cruiser broke. could this be causing my car to overheat?

it sure would, don't drive vehicle, if vehicle overheats you may be replacing the engine, get it fixed fast, they will have to find out what caused the belt to break, i.e. seized pulley of accessory driven component

2001 pt cruiser my fan motor keeps going out we changed the fuse

Check wiring harnes to fan, using multi meter you should get 12V ot the fan connector with out the air con running and at operating temp, if ac is turned on does the fan run? if so then you need to replace the fan unit .. Easy job about 1.5 hours do it your self . Bear in mind that I am an aircraft mechanic. question let me know I will do my best to help you. [email protected]

2001 pt cruiser running hot after changing thermostat and radiator cap, it starts wonderfully, never even stalls when it runs hot, the only thing running hot is the antifreeze, it bubbles up , and the car...

Likely it's not a head gasket (yet) You should check your fans to make sure they are coming on properly. check that there are no leaves or debris stuck between the radiator and the a/c condenser and that the radiator is flowing well.
Even though the engine is running well after it gets hot, it is not good for the head gasket and can cause it to fail...take care of the problem asap!!!

2001 PT Cruiser

Car overheats then engine dies going down hill coasting. When try to start, starter spins as if no gas or fire to the plugs. Can this be a sensor flipped by too much heat or lack of coolant ? If so, how do you reset the sensor ?
