Jeep wont start

I have a 1994 jeep wrangler and the check engine light came on. The codes that came up were 12 and 41. (altinator?). I noticed that the battery energy was being sucked out on the gauge. I shut it off and it hasnt started. Ive tryed everything except changed the altinator and the distributer, before i waste anymore money could this be the problem, when you try to start it it is turning over but just not starting? Please help

I have same issue with my 94 wrangler. My battary is brand new and my altenator was changed april 07. My 50amp maxi fuse was blown, but after replacing it still nothing. I can get the jeep to turn over occasionally but immediatly after it starts it dies, even while giving it gas.

94 wrangler 4.0 fuel pump wont turn on

If your check engine light does not illuminate when you turn the ignition on then your jeep ecu is in need of repair. The check engine light has to be on for the fuel pump to get power. Try leaving the ignition key in the on position for a few minutes to see if the check engine light does eventually come on and if the fuel pump starts to work then.

Is the check engine light lighting up on the dashboard, when you turn the ignition key to on? If not then your ecu is in need of repair since it is not sending power to the coil and probably also not to the injectors also.

Your engine computer is going bad. There are three capacitors inside the ecu that are going bad, unable to hold current. You can replace the entire ecu or try and change out the capacitors in your ecu. It's a common problem with early 90's jeep ecu's.

Try replacing Co2 sensor, most people don't realized that unit need replacing every 50-75k miles also. if that does not work, take it to the dealer and have them plug it into the computer, that will allow for them to narrow it down. with service engine light on, it will effect some of your gas mileage and the performances. The dealer charge somewhere around 50 bucks to diagnose using their computer, however 50 bucks will appilied toward the repair bill if they do the work.

With the jeep running put a volt meter on the battery and it should be reading above 13 volts if not replace the altinator it isn't charging. You can check the fuse for the altinator first if not charging but most likely the altinator is bad.
