I had a 92 Chevy Cavalier which had the hydraulic clutch system like yours. I had intended to flush and purge the hydraulic clutch system at the same time I flushed and purged the brake system. I traced the hydraulic lines from the master cylinder into the front of the transmission where the clutch is located. This is the most likely place to look for the slave. I didn't find a way to bleed the lines with the transmission still in and the Hanes manual I had was unhelpful. The dealer told me it was a "special job" that had to be done in a shop.
The slave cylinder on the transmission is leaking. It may be rebuilt or replaced. It will have to have the air bled out of it either way you go. The bleeder screw in on the side if the slave cylinder .
If the car hasn't been driven for a while it could be corrosion on the fork but I think that is unlikely. I think you are right about the release bearing being jammed in the spring. If the truck has quite high mileage, it probably means a clutch job.
