2003 GMC Sierra Stalls at low RPM

I bought this truck new, it started to hesitate and **** while driving up hill and when slowing down. It seemed like it wasn't getting any fuel. We brought it to the shop and replaced the fuel pump it seemed to be driving fine then the next day. The same problems occured. We also had the fuel system cleaned could it be a sensor of some sort?

I can go 45-50MPH if I try any more it dies, or spits and sputters. I changed the fuel filter, but I think it may be the fuel pump. Any time you ask it for a bit more it wants to stall.... it also says (When it dies) Battery not charging, but in the past 380 miles the batteries have lasted??? Fuel Pump?? (there is also an issue with the sppedometer going from 45 to 120 after it dies and I restart it, but I think that is yet another problem with this truck)

(collette) Guess what I was looking around on some other websites and it mentioned the crankshaft sensor to be changed. We did and it worked! It is running now but the check engine light is still on but it is not blinking. We took it to Autozone and they said it could be the Catalytic Converter. We had that checked as well so again I found an article at popular mechanic and it suggested we change the O2 sensors, DUH!!!...With the GMC it has two of them so I changed one of them at the tail pipe side of the Catalytic Converter, the light is still on so next I will put another new one on the front end and hopefully that gets the light turned off......

It has over 100K miles on it......so its time for 02 sensor changes...if the light is still on ofter that...is there a way you have to reset the check engine light?

I have the same problem but it is clogged cat converter due to failure of mass airflow sensor. Goood luck

I had the same problem with stalling when slowing down or coming to a stop . Check engine light coming on also . fixed my problem truck now runs like it did when i drove it off the lot in 03. Go get a couple dollors can of Carb Cleaner. take duct work off of Electronic Throttle Body and spray it completely let sit couple seconds and repeat this time take an old toothbrush and after spraying scub infront and around throttle clapper and rerinse with cleaner let air dry and put duct back together . this worked wonderfully for me hope does for you

I had the same problem. yes its the sensor and instead of buying a new one. what i did is disconnect the ground wire on the battery, unplug the sensor located on the firewall on driver side. let it sit for about 10 min. reconnect every thing back to where it was and that should fix your problem.

No. It is a bad alternator. When they test the alternator they turn it at faster rpm. When it turns at faster rpm it is charging fine. What the problem is the voltage regulator in the alternator is going bad. When you turn your blinker on I bet the voltage shows on the gauge. Moves up and down with the blinker.

Check TPS for smooth and linear electrical response over the entire range of motion. If the response is jumpy or erratic at all, replace TPS.

timing might be off a little...or your low idle control might not be functioning. try unhooking your idle control module on throttle body, if it doesnt change idle when you disconnect it, its faulty.

check for codes. If no codes are stored then maybe the idle air control valve is bad, or the air cleaner clamps are loose.. If the clamps were loose or a vacuum hose fell off you should have a code stored. If the IAC is bad it usually will not set a code.
