Got stuck when i revearsed heard a bang from the front then the van would not go heard grinding sounds

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

It can be caliper is grinding against the wheel. Also can be brake pads get stuck between caliper and wheel. How long ago you have them checked. Did you hear the squiking sound while pushing the brake lately.

Whats happened when a front wheel slowly grinding sound than finally got a sort of a lock up on the motorway at about 90k

It could be your brake pad has worn down and is rubbing on the metal backing, or a wheel bearing needs to be replaced. There are several components in there that could be malfunctioning---most malfunctions in the wheel/steering can be VERY dangerous...please have it checked by a professional before you drive it again.

Grinding noise in front end when coming to a stop,

could be a stone stuck in one of the calipers , sometimes driving in reverse can clear the stone.

95 GMC Safari AWD frontend noise

Sounds like the brake pads is still slightly making contact with the rotor. Replace pads and / or rotor.

Could be that the pads are wore out and are just scraping the rotor. Definately replace pads AND rotor.

Could be that the pads have broken their clips and are flopping around.

Could be a rock stuck in the overall brake assembly.

I had front brakes and rotors replaced on my 2000 Durango. Within a week I heard something like a grind coming from the right front tire. And tonight I heard the same noise when braking but it was much...

sounds like something was jammed, or loose. I'd recommend taking it back to where the brakes were done and have them check it out in case something they did is messed up.

Front brakes replaced and then heard a loud bang

A noise like that in brakes are not something to guess at, or play around with. Call the place that did the brake job, and explain to them what happened. My guess is that they will come to you, or advise you to very carefully bring it to them for a look. Might have been a stone wedged or something but don't take the chance, have it looked at, a.s.a.p. and don't drive it if you don't have to until then.
