Question about 1997 Buick Skylark
Bought car with no start prob. Hooked up battery with key on ( didn't know it was on ). Things like lights and other things were going on and off and starter engaged two times. Then got in car and it started. pulled it up on trailer and took it home. Started it and pulled it off trailer and let it run then drove it and it drove fine. Pulled up to garage died and
no restart. Pushed into garage and it started up and ran. Shut off. Next day no start. Discovered alarm system ( Rattler system ). Removed it
and still no start. Only found one wire that was routed through a unit in the Rattler system and reconnected it to it's original spot. All other wires were dog legged in. I know I'm not getting any spark and the check engine light only flashes on for a split second when turning the key on but will not stay on as it is sopposed to while the key is on and it's not running. Any Ideas. I've never delt with an alarm system before.
I think the prob. is related to the alarm. Thanks Neil W.
I had a problem with no start on 97 skylark. The anti theft light would come on. I would have to leave the key in the on position, then maybe it would think the key was the right key and I wasn't a thief. Column lock cylinder was changed as well as ignition switch (didn't solve the problem). Turned out to be a part in the instrument cluster. I'm in AZ and plastic parts crumble after a few years.
