how do you check the vaccuum and how do you hook the vaccuum hoses back up to the transfer case? I found them just hanging there

I do have the same problem, but I do not see a vaccuum line on my transfer or differential. On the differential up front, there is a cable linkage and an electrical connector. Where could I find an illistration of the vaccuum lines?

There is a vaccuum operated switch located on the transfer case that sends vaccum to the accuator that pulls a cable that locks the front end in. Check for vac coming in and out of this switch if no vac out replace it. This switch is a very common problem. You can find them at most parts stores in the help section #49315. please rate.

Is there an electric or vacuum switch on a 2001 chevy blazer

There are 2 models here the push button will flash if the system is not engaging or disengaging properly . If front drive shaft is turning. That is with car raised and supported . if front drive axles do not turn then the axle actuator is not engaging axle shaft passenger side. Remove actuator and manually engage shifting collar with a screwdriver still does not turn then inner axle is twisted.

Problems with chevy s10

have the actuator (mounted on the drivers side transfer case) checked. that is what makes the selection from 2-4 hi-4 low. it takes the place of a gear shift. they are a fairly inexpensive and easy repair (if thats the problem). i would start there providing you have checked the fuses and relays. i hope this helps.

When i put my 94 chevy suburban into four hi or low . the front axles are not engaging . The four wheel drive front drive shaft is turning but the axles are not catching.

Make sure that the vacuum actuator for the 4 wheel drive located on the axle is getting vacuum when its being engaged. A vacuum pump can be used to test the actuator for leaks. If no vacuum check line for breaks and if no breaks that you have feed vacuum for the switch itself

Four wheel won't engage

Theres a vacume dash pot under the battery box. It pulls a cable that engages the front diff. Put the vacume line and you'll have lights and four wheel drive. (it happened to my blazzer)
